Hey folks!I went back to the source, removed some hardware, and cleaned out my computer, and I think that for now, it may be fixed. Previously, I couldn't have Photoshop open for 20 minutes without my computer restarting entirely without warning. And I actually managed to get this finished after toying around with some things, so that's a positive indicator!
Keep your fingers crossed.
Anyway, about the image!
This is the current design for Magnus Mayhem, arch nemesis to Charlie Dubai. Both characters were born with special powers: Charlie uses hers for good, Magnus for evil.
I wanted his design to fit Charlie's a little better...something a little more fantastical, but still with some modern touches. The vest approach seemed far more interesting than the previous design, which can be seen here: [link]
I changed some things about his face, got rid of his earrings, and gave him a little snaggletooth for that extra bit of brutish personality.

Love the tattoos and the nose ring and the tail is actually working for me now. I think you achieved the "American" with "Indian" influence.
I'm not sure how I feel about the vest. Something about the shape seems a little off to me. Almost like it should come straight down or have a harder corner vs. curving toward his back. I also feel his chest/stomach seem a little empty. Maybe a line or two might help, though a full on six pack would look a little silly.
With that said, the design overall is great. I like his pants, boots and gloves and his skin tone is really cool. Charlie got a pretty blue, Magnus got a pallid green. Poor guy.

The last paragraph of your comment is exactly what I want to hear! I like to think that Magnus constantly tries to rain on Charlie's parade because he's jealous of how her powers have manifested themselves, whereas he's a green, hairy beast that pulls things out of his horns. He's kind of jealous. ;D
Anyway, I appreciate the honest critique! In regards to the vest, I didn't want it to go all the way down to his belt or to be loose, as I didn't want any movement of the fabric to detract from other focal points of his design, like his horns for instance. As far as his stomach, I think the emptiness drives home the simplicity, but nothing's set in stone. He's supposed to be a little fat so a 6-pack might be a bad idea, but perhaps a couple more of those stray hairs would do the trick. I'll give it a try!

Excellent! I love when I actually get what is going on in a design.
I'm also glad you took the crit in the spirit in which is was given. I thought he was supposed to be a big guy but not necessarily muscular. Trust your instinct, not mine, you are the character designer. Stray hairs may complicate the design unnecessarily.

If indeed that is what you drew. A cummerbund is a sash around the waist instead of a belt. For example, some tuxedos involve cummerbunds, and (appropriately) it was often a part of traditional East Indian garb.

That is, in fact, exactly what I was going for. Which is odd, because while Charlie is the Indian-equivalent (as I doubt there is such a thing as India in this crazy world I've invented), Magnus is the American-equivalent. I tried a studded belt, but it just looked...bad, for lack of a more appropriate word. The, uh, "cummerbund" (what a fun word!) looked much better.

Indeed, he does emit such a vibe. Like I said, I wanted him to look like he belonged and that he and Charlie are definitely rivals.
Of course, if the reader doesn't read Magnus as a brutish American, that's okay! One of the best things about any medium that requires the consumer to read is that some things are open for interpretation, even in comics with all of its pictures. And while I'm a bit of a control freak, I'm willing to let some things slide. ;D

This version actually looks a lot younger and more naive - in my opinion. But! This observation is not that of a negative one! I like this version, he looks a little more "down to earth" so to speak. Like, he has the possibility of looking tougher as the story would progress - or even finding a way to change his form.

Actually, that's what I wanted to hear! I'm glad you noticed he looks younger, because that was my intention. He and Charlie are supposed to be very close in age (although not necessarily in size - he's much taller).
I wouldn't say he's down-to-Earth, though. He's still quite irrational. ;D

Yes, beastly is a great word to describe the new approach! I was hoping he would look a little more animalistic than the previous design.
