Description

Hello everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. If your wondering why I’ll explain right now...  I’ve been practicing on digital art and now I have switched over and become a digital artist. So it’s taken a lot of practice but I believe it’s good enough to start posting. ^^

Green lantern is one of my favourite superheroes... I’ve liked him for a long time, I remember that when I was younger I used to get upset to see a different Green Lanterns that weren’t Hal Jordan. I used to think they were replacing him, but that’s because I didn’t quite understand how it works.

He’s definitely not perfect and many times it seems like he’s messed up more than he’s done good but his will is what let’s him continue and I think that’s important for us during this time too. This Covid’s definitely got some of us down but let’s keep fighting Covid and one day it’ll be over. We can’t just give up and let it steal our joy. So in my opinion one thing that Hal has is the will to fight, it’s probably what makes him so pig headed too.

Here are different completed versions, I had a hard time choosing so please tell me which ones best and then I’ll set it as the icon.

Progress:

I started off with measurements, you know the usual. Oh also what’s important to know is that in art you rarely end up with the first draft idea so keep you mind open. Thankfully on this one I kinda had this idea for a while so I didn’t really have to search around much. Okay so once I can figure put what I’m doing I move on to sketching. This is where I do a touch up on the skeleton and flesh it out. So once you have what you want in pencil what I do is ink it. It helps preserve the drawing and also makes it easier for me to extract it to digitally colour it. Once complete I erase the whole page to clean all the pencil and leave the clean inked version.

Now for the digital when I import the picture I need to adjust the levels to make sure that it doesn’t take to much away from the drawing or make holes.

After that I look around the line art for any holes and fix them with the dip pen(hard). Then I add another layer and put it below the line art layer to begin the colouring process.(If the order is incorrect you can end up either not seeing anything or colouring over you line art) Next I move to bucket fill which makes things so much easier! (This is why the second step is so important) I’ll most likely need to colour some holes but bucket fill usually gets most of the job done. Then I can move to shading which is one of my favourites! There are so many ways to shade it’s insane! On this one I used the Dip pen (hard) to shade, it’s always good to add a lighter and darker tone to the base colour. Once you do that you might want to change the Percent on the layer so that it looks softer.

So yup that’s it, I hope this helps many people! ^^

Til next time,

DrG0ku! ^^
