Description This is my entry for 's Cathedrals in Time contest.

Trapped by the memory of her one moment of bliss and peace, she is caught in that instant of time, unable to break free and touch upon the reality of life. Instead, she will build a shrine to it, a great cathedral in which she can worship that one moment she will never forget or let go of no matter what the future might hold for her. For her, time is forever frozen.

Enjoy!

Orange and green are two of my favorite colors! I wish it was available as a print.

I accidentally clicked the print account link. It costs 25 dollars to set up the account. Welcome!

Bleah. I wouldn't sell enough prints to make up that cost, so I'd rather save the $25 for a pair of much needed jeans.

Yeesh! Some prints only sell for three bucks! You'd never sell enough. >.<

What was that alll important moment? I think surrealism is your genre. You should use the style more often. My favorite part is the horse...no idea why there's a horse there, but I like it.

Driven-Crazy In reply to Yoda-Ganny [2006-11-30 05:50:40 +0000 UTC]

Pssst. The horse is Time. It's waiting to carry her away again into her future. At least that's what it means to me, but the beauty of art is that it could mean anything to anyone. I'm glad you like him.

That one all-important moment is also open to interpretation. For her, it might be that one night she spent with a lover who had to leave. That one moment is whatever moment that whoever is looking at the piece wishes they could freeze time during. For some, it might be a certain sunset. For others, a first kiss. For still others, the death of a loved one. It's whatever you want it to be, so I never fully defined for myself what the woman's one moment is.

Thanks so much for the wonderful comment! I've never considered myself a surrealistic (don't know if that's a word) person, but I'll definitely try it out again soon!

Duh. If I'd taken the time to study it more, I would have put the clocks together with the horse. I'm not good at interpreting art.

That's okay! You're a busy man. Besides, I don't think they teach how to study art in med scool.

I had to take art or music appreciation in school. I chose music and hated that class.

I took Survey of Eastern Art instead of either of those classes. It was eh.

Eastern Art as in Asian art? Kate would adore that class.

Yeah, even though we spent a lot more time in India than Asian as in Japanese and Chinese.

Marie prefers Indian art because of its richness. I personally like the minimalism of Japanese art. Chinese art is too gaudy.
