The life of a creator. Torturing is a must to keep the story going.

Reminds me of what my brother would sometimes do for me when we were little. We didn't have a lot of money, and my mom left us alone for days and even weeks on end, so he would often steal food from a local convenient store and then give most of it to me.

Wow what happened in the end? It surprising you're mother did that why did she did that?

After she and my dad divorced when I was four and dad got main custody of me, she went into a real depressive state and always be out, at least whenever I was there on the weekends and holidays she was, leaving my sister, who was ten at the time, suddenly in charge of her eight-year-old brother and four-year-old half-sister, me. But my sister always just left us on our own, tired of living in her own filth in a house filled with dirty laundry and trash but little to no food to eat and nothing to clean ourselves with.

My half-brother, Alistair, would always just tell me that mom was working multiple jobs to try and get us in a better living situation and that Audrey, our sister, was just baby sitting other kids in our trailer park to get some extra money. None of this was too hard for me to believe at the time, since my dad was constantly working so that we could have our own home, and we were forced to live with my grandma at the time with no where else to go.

But as I started to get older, not only did I learn that Audrey was always running off to a friend's house to take a shower, barrow clean clothes, and eat a complete meal, which were pretty much far away dreams for Alistair and I, but also my mom was unemployed about 90% of my life. Even if she got a job, she would often be fired within two weeks and then be unemployed for another six months or more. By the time I was eight, I had learned all about this and more, but I still clung tightly to the hopeful thought that my mom loved and cared for me.

Eventually, when we bought a new, bigger trailer (the other one was lived in was actually just a camping trailer that could be hitched onto someone's truck that mom somehow got for free) and my other grandma moved in with us (by this time my dad had already remarried and moved us into an apartment in a good neighborhood) mom had managed to wrestle herself out of her depressive state, get a solid job (which she was fired from a year later), and was not only home much more often, but was actually feeding on a daily basis and raising us in a clean home where I didn't have to choose between sharing a bed with Alistair or sleeping on the floor.

I thought at the time that I was finally getting the mom I had been missing out on, but on my tenth birthday, I was finally slammed face-first into reality, when she bought me a big tub of chocolate ice cream. I asked her why she got me the chocolate ice cream and she said "Because it's your favorite flavor, sweet heart!"

I hate chocolate ice cream. Always have, always will. My favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla, and she thought it was chocolate. It seems small, I know, but I thought everyone knew, because everyone on my dad's side of the family was always joking about how old-fashion I was for liking vanilla ice cream so much. My aunts would always joke that I wasn't a "true woman" because I never liked chocolate. But here my mom was - my own mother - not even knowing what ice cream flavor I like.

I ran off and locked myself into my room, crying my eyes out. Not long after, I saw my brother run out of the door and speed off on his bike, my mom calling out after him. Mom and Audrey kept on knocking on my door, begging for me to come out and explain to them what was wrong, but neither of them had no idea why Alistair and I was acting like this. One hour later, Alistair returned and knocked on my window. When I went over to open it up, Alistair pulled out a mini-tub of Homemade Vanilla ice cream out of a 7-Eleven bag and said "Happy birthday." He had biked a little over four miles to the nearest 7-Eleven and bought me my favorite ice cream.

It was on that day that I realized the only person on my mom's side of the family that loved and cared for me was Alistair, and he's also the only reason I still visit my mom's house every other weekend and holiday now.

As to why she did all of that...

I don't know.

I just don't know.
