I thought he and his wife were wonderful parents. They were trapped in a difficult situation since they are both rulers and parents. But they made lot of sacrifices and it is clear that their girls love them very much and were upset by their death. I agree that it is sweet that Elsa was a daddy's girl.Β Β Β Β

Nooooope, I'm a classic movie fan so my mind goes to the adorable Melvyn Douglas before Cary Elwes (though he is also adorable).

Nice work! I just rewatched Frozen, and the movie does a good job presenting the King's character in the short screentime he had. He handled Elsa's power the wrong way, but he meant well, and he really did love both of his daughters. And I could tell Elsa looked up to her dad. The King and Queen's shipwreck and the aftermath during "Do You Wanna Build a Snowman" is right up there with the saddest Disney moments.

I agree. I thought it was clear that they were both good rulers and good parents. They really made lot of sacrifices for Elsa and correctly believed that she would be fine without them. Also, their and Anna's final hug was so sweet. I bet they would be so proud of both of them.Β

He was terrified for his child's life - he thought if anyone found out about her powers they would lynch her or something.Β If that makes him a bad parent than I don't know a single good one.

I agree. He and his wife were trapped in a tough choice since they have to protect both their people and their daughters. Also, Elsa has to control her power both in good and bad times. She had a better handle of it when she is calm but she has to learn to deal with it better during hard times. Also, Grandpabbie was the only one in the entire film who had any idea about her magic but it's possible that he only have limited knowledge of it so the best he could do is offer some advices. So, it's not like they could just simply find a teacher for her.Β Β

I get being scared for your kid but the way he handled it was just SO ASININE. He could plainly see that it wasn't working! His daughter was a nervous wreck and it wasn't getting any better! Why didn't he go back to that idiot troll and find out what was wrong?? What's worse, he completely neglected his younger daughter in the process. We never saw him or his stupid wife spending any time with Anna, talking, or playing with her. She said a grand total of five words to them in the film before they died! That's not enough of a relationship for us to care when she lost them forever. I just wanted them to be GONE so everyone else could get on with their lives.

Is it strange that he reminds me of an adult Ventus?

Have you ever thought of adding Iroh to the Hot Dads series? I mean technically Iroh was Zuko's uncle, but he sure raised him better than his real dad. And Iroh did have a real son, though it was a pity he died.
