Snap decision. I had a book signing cancel, so I can spend all day tomorrow cleaning and packin' fer mah trip. This about as extended concept as I want to get for Dragon Rose; I think I spend too much time on concept and that leads to burnout. My pencils are terribly mucky as a rule, I scribble like a three year old with their first coloring book. (I absolutely ENVY anyone able to get super-thin, black lines of such fineness it makes one want to weep, especially from straight pencils.)
This is based off of Mala's old pose (which was scrapped, if you want to see my progress.) She looks a heck of a lot better this time around.
If there is one race in Saeloveria that could kick any other race's teeth in (and that includes the veskr), it is the Haenor. Haenor are incredibley savage and proud of it. Their females are bigger, and average about ten feet. Their young kill each other in fights. Haenor go berserk in battle, but even when they don't they can bite through plate armor and tear apart a destrier with their bare hands. They also have the disturbing ability to mimic what they hunt with parrot-like expertise.
The only downside? They're so vicious they're slaughtering each other to the point of extinction. Mala Darkskull is a shaman determined to direct the Haenor towards real enemies, like elves and humans. Mala has uncharacteristic thoughtfulness and is rarely rash. She is reminding the Haenor that they can have loyalty to one another.
