Description Just a quick exercise in working with color. Maybe 3 hours or so. There's something corrupting about coloring your own lineart, mostly cause I'm a super-critical artist about my own work and look for mistakes. And I was very impressed with the lineart Frisket had done of her Lunar fan character, the dragon Lunix, which she said she wasn't going to color. So behold. Frisket is also evil because she can get her lines microscopic thin. I would kill do have lines like hers. I'm pretty certain she uses pencils, tho, which are very evil to me. I do so love the transparency, however. I need a tutorial on working with pencil or something ... or at least a kickass line cleanup tutorial. My scanner's pencil lines are always super ragged, whereas when I just copied Frisket's image into Photoshop they were very smooth. Also, this was colored using %100 opacity, no master opacity or flow settings. So yay!

I'm kind of hoping this won't come back to bite me on the ass. All you Frisket fans out there (and I know your names are legion), have the heart to at least peruse my gallery. Know what my most popular piece is? The comic cover I did for Kay Fedewa's Blackblood Chronicles. You don't have to leave a comment or even fave, but it is rather humbling to realize one's most popular work is pretty much someone else's. I will probably move this into scraps in a little bit, mostly cause I want an unbroken line of my Daemon Soul concept art in my gallery (I am so anal), and because Frisket suffers a lot of art theft and this one could be pretty ripe for thieves. And of course, if she wants me to take it down, I shall.

a GREAT wat to get NICe lineart is to use a different colored pencil and use a Micron over it. this way you can really get your stuff to how you like it, and then do the outlining.

Youve got some great stuff! Saw a link to you from Kayfedewa. ^_-

Micron pen or pencil? Pencil misbehaves when it comes to outlining; my lineart is so ragged! *froths* I've heard of drawing with a blue pencil and then outlining with black.

Thanks for dropping by!

Micron pens baby! ^_- expensive as crap for a pen but WORTH it. But not as bad as Prismacolor markers....... -__-

Im only learning how to do really good lineart now, though ive been drawing all my life. Since ive been sketching with pencil or colored pencils ( blue or red ) and then using a micron pen or sharpie, ive noticed the quality of my work has gotten better. Plus it makes it easier to color in photoshop for me.

Youre much more advanced than i am though! Youve got some wonderful horse/unicorn stuff, and im SO jealous that youve got the anatomy down to a T. ( i see you ahve a horse too... im even more jealous about that!)

The texturing on this is absolutely incredible. Every hair and feather is so well defined and lucid that I myself half-expect her to shift or alter herself at any given moment. Similarly, her eyes are beautifully transient and angelic, giving her quite an ethereal aura. Marevlous job, and I shall now precede to, as you put it, "peruse" your gallery

the shading and texture are just...wow...mind-boggling (here's me who's trying and failing to draw scales...if i tried feathers, i'd laugh at myself) i can't believe you're the same artist i watched those months ago...

the sky's neat, but i'm too busy staring and staring at the lunix...this is why my eyesight is shot...it's all you're fault

people don't fave your original work probably because it's original work that hasn't been latched onto by trendsetters yet ...it has nothing to do with your abilities

Gotta agree C_c; I've seen WICKED talented people not get the credit/recognition they deserve.
I've seen people draw images of corny dog/animal stuff and it gets like 'OMG! I LOVE YOUR WORK!!! +FAV!!' ... c_c;

So go figure. :3 I think it has to do with what y'said..trendsetters and the current "in" thing... Droemar, however, rocks in my books :3

You most certaintly did my linework justice, as mentioned... What I don't understand, having looked in your gallery, how you DON'T get more comments on your work. You are not mundane in the slightest. You always challenge your subject matter, find dynamic poses, and you have an amazing ability to color.. Frankly your coloring makes your artwork stand out more -- as it's bold and yet has a unique flavor.

I'm in love with this, and completely did not expect anyone to color it - let alone so talentedly! I'm blown away darlin'. The WINGS .. My god. I can't believe the textures you were able to use in this. Thank you so very much for taking time and doing this for me hon!!

I think a lot of pageviews and whatnot have a lot to do with networking. "You faved some things so I'm coming to say thanks!" and so on. I see it a alot, but only watch a select few myself. I noticed you colored Lunix's wings all flamey, and now I'm like "Mwargh!" I was going off her colors as the hatchling. I might be able to go back and revamp, but I think I might wait for your updated version of things, when the big Snarling Lunix piece is done. If you'll excuse me, I'm gong to go squee now.

*Squee! Frisket liked it!*
