Description This is the front cover of Federation Graffiti, the fifth novella in my Star Trek Calypso series. A simple and straightforward layout with the text, but I think it works.

Glen Giron, aka s2ka drew this incredibly fantastic piece of art, featuring the the whole STC gang. Starting at the bottom centre and moving clockwise, the cast includes:

1. Garadun and his beloved kitty, Magik
2. Cera Rigel
3. Jan Koor
4. T'Prin
5. Sajeen
6. David "Kona" Kalakona
7. Nessa


The layout design is inspired by the classic covers of the JLA/JLE/JLI comics of the late 80s and early 90s

The moment I saw this I just loved it = there is a sort of nonchalance to the piece - like a case of them saying "we are what we are, we are damn proud of it and if you don't like it - F/k off!! Especially if you are a fed or a kling!"

There is also a strange "why we here" vibe to it that I love - think Sapphire and Steel, or The Prisoner - if that makes sense.

Definitely a trek vibe here

Interesting observations! I wanted that casual, "Yeah, this is us, what of it?" feel to it; and Glen did his usual outstanding job in bringing my vision to life. I think this might be my favourite STC cover so far

Fantastic! You always get the best people to do your covers I'm loving the sharp shading and crisp lines. This style looks good on Gar... and it's so nice to see Magik getting some cover lovin'. All the outfits look great, but Nessa in particular is looking sharp. Sajeen, of course, needs no fancy clothes... she looks wonderful in a soft off-the-shoulder blouse and buttoned pants.

...and I still wonder how much Gar really looks like his creator...

Quality art comes from talented artists... and Glen has become my official artist. He's done all my STC covers and character art, all my BattleTech art, the full cast of my Planescape series, and all my Gamma World art. He's a freaking genius and I'm very lucky to be working with him

And yeah, they all look great ~ including our beloved ship's cat, Magik

Quality is the key! If it's the 'good stuff', people will notice. I've been following Glen since your Gamma World novella, but I should probably take a look though his gallery to see what else he's done.

I like to think part of their appeal is the fact that they *aren't* Starfleet. To my knowledge, STC is the only civilian Trek-setting series in existence. And I do my best with their adventures
