Description Inspiration: The beauty of nature.
Type: Photography

Nature is my inspiration for just about everything I do in life, and most certainly my photography and much of my poetry. Nature is my cathedral, as some may go to a temple, church or synagogue for inspiration in life, I go into the forest, or walk through a field, or sit under an old oak and stare up at the cloud formations. Nature is life, and nature is death. Nature is cyclical. We can learn so much from the ways of nature, that can be put to use in our everyday lives.

One key lesson that I learned from studying nature is that there are consequences for everything you do, some neutral, some good, some bad. In my past, when "bad" things happened, I blamed god. "God, why don't you care, why aren't you taking care of things like the preachers promise you would." This was hurtful to me for many years, and I ended up deeply depressed when I lost beloved family members or life didn't go quite right. I felt abandoned by god.

But, Nature inspired me to look at my life differently. It healed my broken soul and heart. It gave me the answers I never had before. If a fire rages through a forest... the trees and wildlife and animals die. Life is a cycle of death and rebirth. Everything we do, has consequences. Practically speaking, if someone smokes their entire life then they die of lung cancer, can we blame a higher being for taking that loved one from us? No. We cannot... it is the natural consequences of their choice, right or wrong.

My life goal is peace. Finding peace in all things. Peace is in a rainstorm, the drops striking melodically against the rooftops and lulling me into joyful remembrance. Peace is listening to the musical gurgling of a rocky stream, or the soaring leaves high in the canopy of trees shaking in the autumn wind, and fluttering down to land at my feet, as nature recycles itself.

Nature is my inspiration, and I would be so bold as to say that I am not the only one that feels this way.

Photograph taken this past October in the mountains of upstate South Carolina beneath the majestic Table Rock Mountain.

Forest Cathedral
by =druideye

I've seen cathedrals
made of stone,
soaring to the sky.

I've been to castles
on a hill
where a princess sighed.

Yet never have I
felt as close
to dreams or deity...

As when I stood in
somber wood
beside a rocky stream.

The orange colors in the water are awesome. I wonder if there is sulfur in the ground.

Beautiful photo, I know its in SC, but it reminds me of the rivers up here in Minnesota near to Lake Superior. I feel the same way with nature, its always been a good place for me to think.
