I keep trying to get into home struck, just because I see there troll characters. But, read for a while, but I still haven't seen them anywhere!

Well yeah, they appear quite late in the story, so you'll have to be patient if you want to see them. I would recommend to go patiently through the whole story, because if you skip some parts you'll be eventually really confused, since the whole plot is quite complicated. But it's a very enjoyable read, I would give it another chance

The trolls come in around.... act 3, if I remember (oh god I need to reread it all hnggg) but they're only OFFICIALLY introduced in Act 5 and become a major major part after that.
But, they are amazing. The whole comic is amazing. I like to throw this [link] around to newer readers so they can know what they're in store for. 8) (not to mention it's a Troll-flash, and most people get into HS because of the trolls haha)
