_____

Here's again something for my Fantasy Friday project that I'll hopefully refine a bit more over the next days! c:

Landscapes are definitely something I need to practice more and this was a lot of fun so far! Thank you nyface for requesting it in my Journal here: Request Journal ! ^-^

This piece brings me so much peace of mind. It reminds me so much of those fantasy book covers like The wheel of time and other such novels. It is so dreamy, misty and yet captivating in a way that it kind of "wakes you up" and tells you that a crazy adventure is about to happen! In dragon laaaand! *cue theme music* The distant sky feels so melancholic and the rocky mountainy world behind the dragon looks like a world that has been forgotten for ages.

I really like the design of the dragon in the foreground and how its back spikes are creating a feather fan looking decoration onto its back. The dragon just oozes raw power and intimidation but also stays a bit of a mystery in a sense. I can't exactly tell if the dragon is a bad guy or a good guy or a neutral guy and I kinda like to stay guessing! The bull-like horns are super cute add aswell!

I really like this one and it really pushes me back into reading fantasy books. I never finished the The wheel of time series but I've been seriously thinking of re-starting it and reading it to the end.

You're welcome! I'm glad to hear that you like my commentary/interpretations. I love to take my time and really figure out what I want to say of each piece. Sometimes art like this simply reminds me of something and that starts a whole new train of thoughts! It is a fun train to ride!

I loved the books back then (or at least the first one!), so I have no doubts that I'd enjoy starting the series again!

OK COMMENTING
HERE I GO

The atmosphere in this is lovely. The details on the closest dragon are amazing and the composition does a really good job of leading your eye towards that horizon line. The background has just the right amount of detail and colour in it, too. I just noticed you addΒ chromatic aberration to a lot of your recent pieces as well, it actually adds a really nice effect that I never would have thought of adding into more realistic styles!Β
Really nice work on this one! I can't wait to see more landscapey pieces from you.

Ahw, yes, haha. I love that effect! It just adds the right amount of color variation and extra detail to a piece. It's totally a neat effect, but I really should stop using it so often lately.
Thanks so much for your comment Ny! <3 ^__^

your painting is just to die for I swear.Β  I absolutely LOVE the sharp highlights on the dragon's head.Β Β  like I always look directly at that first you did the contrast and values in this so freaking well.Β  the background too is simple but super effective!!!Β  it looks so foggy and desolate and.... pointy >__>.

your art is always so freaking nice to see I'm really excited for more!!!

It already looks amazing in your dark soft style. :3
I think the feet of the dragon look a bit tiny compared the the huge torso but you can really feel the depth in here.
(Buttfeathers? :3)

Hey Leu, thanks for the critique - I changed the size a bit.
Aw, and no buttfeathers; but feel free to interpreted it as you like. :P

I really really like the texture on the dragon! The belly and the wings
I love that you put a gradient in the background, as in, hills getting more pink in the background and some green on the side

It looks really nice!

Ny requested this? Man this is a small world... (or it seems so, haha)

Again amazing work how you made the dragon seem so organic. The land looks either dead or very well-burnt by these dragons, I think it looks nice and fits the atmosphere... though I understand if you think you need the practice. Even though it is less detailed it did draw my eyes onto the dragons (btw the spine on the one to the left looks totally cool). I think some simple details like dead trees, old weeds/grass, just some patches here and there to give the rock formations some character would help improve the scenery. Nonetheless I think it turned out good. : )
