also if you make a mistake ink is alot harder to "get rid of" compared to charcol

I love that this is a drawing by an eraser essentially. Great technique. Have you heard of an oil-wipeout? It's the same thing, only with oil paints.

wow thats a really good way to go about it... its actually better to put it all black at first :3... much easier to draw white from it afterward. Very nice piece, wish i had the patience to do pics from observation like this again

Sweet use of light and dark.
Now, don't take this the wrong way, but I'm curious . . . did you draw this from a photograph (because film does a good job getting this kind of contrast . . . and because it seems like it would be hard to draw with it so dark out . . . . )
