Description The HMS Rose at sea in San Diego during a mock canon battle.

She was renamed & is otherwise known as the HMS Surprise in honor of her service as the costar of "Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World."

I'm afraid you're incorrect sir, it is indeed the Rose. Per Wikipedia: Much of the filming actually took place at sea on board Rose (a reproduction of the 18th-century frigate HMS Rose). [link]

And per the website of the HMS Rose herself: Now renamed Surprise in honor of her role in the film, the ship is open to the public daily as a dockside attraction at the Maritime Museum of San Diego. [link]

Granted the Rose's site is horribly out of date, but it's accurate as anybody in the museum itself will confirm.

When I see this I can't stop thinking of pirates and the middle ages. I love the contrast the little ship makes with the huge hangarship

Funny thing is that contrast makes the ship look small, but in person she's actually quite large.

Stem to stern she's 135 ft 6 in, and her rigging rises up 130 feet.
