I wanted to draw something Christmas related for my Hunger characters, and after watching some various adaptations of The Nutcracker recently (I have a real soft spot for the Nutcracker Suite by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky , and I've seen a fair few adaptations of the ballet - some adaptations like the 1990s animated version being one that's a festive tradition of mine to watch and the Fantasia sequence being a lot of fun , and some insane ones like The Nutcracker The Untold Story, The Four Kingdoms and The Nuttiest Nutcracker being films I... don't recommend unless you want to drive yourself nuts ), I came up with the perfect idea for one of them and had a lot of fun drawing the posing and the outfits Rose and Thyme are wearing.

Here we have Rose and Thyme dancing together, with Rose in a dark coloured ballet dress and Thyme dressed in clothes that are a combination of the Nutcracker Prince and the Mouse King. I wonder if they had to dress up in clothes they stole from high end toy shops frequented by larger animals for this in a kind of Basil the Great Mouse Detective deal.
