Description
Another sketch I started ages ago and just got around to colouring in - Rose the Vampire bat's extended family. I tried to give them clothes that would be more suited to farm life given Rose's rustic roots. Rose was very secluded in her old home and rarely went out for fear others may bully her for her diet, but her family were the first ones who inspired her to go out into the world to find herself.

From left to right, we have:

Nectarine the Spotted Fruit Bat (the family gardener and one of Rose's foster sisters who taught her about herbs and natural remedies in health care ), Angelus the Spectre Bat (the patriarch of the family and Rose's adopted dad - I thought it would make sense for one of the largest bat species to be the one who raised and protected Rose - he tries to help Rose anyway he can but he doesn't have a blood diet so he's fully aware of how it affects her even though he gathers blood for her- despite his scary appearance he's a very family oriented bat ), Rose in her old home clothes (the scarf she has is inspired by Mrs Brisby's - fitting given Mrs Brisby from Secret of NIMH was a big inspiration for Rose's character ), Vesp the Painted Bat (I drew him in the past - he's an eccentric collector that collects a lot of odd artefacts from his worldly travels to share with Rose - as odd as they may be - he's like the odd cousin ) and Kneph the Tomb Bat (a school teacher in their home village who is also a keen archaeologist and helped Rose find books she may be interested in - she's kind of like an aunt to Rose ).
