Here's Vile, the lunatic walking arsenal. That's how I see him, and that's what makes him one of my favorite characters in the X series.

When he was introduced in the original Mega Man X, although already very violent and hell-bent on destroying X, he was just Sigma's second-in-command, and that was that. However, Maverick Hunter X gave us the chance to cast upon Vile a whole new look, both through X's and his own eyes. I really loved the twist they gave him in the remake, going out on a journey of his own, breaking off from Maverick Hunters AND Sigma's Mavericks. The substitution from Sigma's emblem to the V mark in his forehead depicts this well - he's not working for Sigma this time around. He's working for himself and no one else. And this, I believe, gives him yet more motivation to defeat X.

I thought of all of this while drawing this piece. Instead of outlining the whole piece with clear and crisp lines I just left the original pencil lines there. This gave the drawing a more organic and wild feel overall, and that was exactly what I was after. The same goes to the shading. I finally learned how to make it look like this, and the final result really pleased me.

I don't think I really hit the spot with the background though. While it does look nice, I don't think it blends well with the main picture. I'll have to look into that sometime.

Overall I'm very satisfied with this piece. I think I succeeded in straying from the clean cut lines and coloring, and this one feels more natural in general.
