GAH I can't do backgroundsI really can't ;;
Anyways... I know that characters die outside of their game, so in my mind I think Turbo went, confronted the "real" King Candy, explained to him his plan and somehow made him fall back (major intimidation I'm guessing). So my guess is, is that he beat him up, he knocked him out, then dragged his out-cold body right outside where you exit the game, then killed him. Then my guess is that he went back into the game, into the code room, and took the "real" King Candy's place.
That's just my headcanon on what happened, so don't bite my head off please. ;;

Sour Bill: Sire, a racer named Turbo wants to see you.
King Candy: Vanellope, go into the next room while I deal with our guest.
Vanellope: Okay, daddy.
King Candy: *gasps* Hey! What is the meaning of this?
Turbo: This is a takeover, I’m going to be the next ruler of Sugar Rush!
King Candy: That’s what you think!
*sword clashing*
King Candy: Oof!
Turbo: I could kill you, but you’d regenerate anyway.
King Candy: I’ll never let you take over Sugar Rush!
Turbo: I know that too. But what about your daughter? I could harm her instead, she’s the real ruler anyway.
King Candy: No!
Vanellope: *gasps*
King Candy: Please don’t hurt her!
Turbo: Well, I have no choice.
King Candy: Wait! You can rule Sugar Rush. You can have my crown, you can kill me, even. Just don’t harm her, please spare her. I’ll surrender if you promise not to harm her.
Turbo: Very well, not even a cut or a scratch. Let’s go.
King Candy: Wait! Just let me say goodbye first.
Turbo: Alright.
Vanellope: *sniffles* Daddy, please don’t do this.
King Candy: I’m really sorry, Vanellope. But I can’t let you get hurt. I love you.
Vanellope: *sobbing* I love you too, daddy.
King Candy: Listen, I don’t trust Turbo. Once I leave the room, go back into your room and put on your play clothes. Then you must teleport very far away from here, close to Diet Cola Mountain, even. There’s a secret entrance, you’ll be safe there.
Vanellope: *sniffs* Okay. I’ll miss you, daddy.
King Candy: I’ll miss you too. But remember, you’ll always be my Sugar Cookie.
Vanellope: *glitch* *crying* It’s not fair, daddy. You don’t deserve to die. *continues crying* *glitching*
Me: That is just so sad, poor Vanellope. Her father, the real King Candy, sacrificing himself to protect his daughter

I had the same headcannon but King Candy got locked up in the fungeon for fifteen years until Turbo was deafeated and the former was set free.

I was wondering the same thing, too, if there was a "real" King Candy or if this was just someone Turbo adapted into a new character for him to hide in. Nice illustration and a good bit of back story to go with your drawing.

There is a reason why the characters die outside of their won game; they aren't programmed to stay. However Turbo DID program himself(what you say took the place of the real king) in the code.

Your idea on how King Candy died is much... scarier than mine. I thought that Turbo just successfully deleted his code. Your's would definitely make for a more interesting story, though.

I like how the chosen angle escalates anxiety for the presumed "real" King Candy, but also fury at Turbo.
The fanart also gets me wondering if the takeover from Turbo could of got any darker with the truth...
