Description
I have depicted Mordred as a young man. This is the time where Mordred is truly becoming evil after he has realized that he can't escape his fate. Mordred is one of my favorite characters from the legends of King Arthur. He is the bastard some of Arthur and his sister Morgause (in some cases Morgan le Fey). The product of an incestuous union, he was destined to fulfill the horrible prophecy of killing his own father. And now ladies and gentlemen, here is my sad attempt at a little poetry..Fate
How long I've tried to fight you
I thought I could escape
I thought we made our own destiny
All I wanted was love
And I tried with everything I had
But every step and you pull me back again
Fate
I can't fight you any more
I feel my soul leaving
behind an empty shell
A mechanical
Come in, fill it
Fate
Mordred is yours

i am amazed how many people know bg, because they get no airtime on radio or music tv, have no massive advertisement campaings or shit like that. i guess quality does count afterall. oh, and you are amazing.

I found out about them years ago when someone drew a picture of Mordred and wrote the lyrics on it, them I looked up the lyrics and found blind guardian and downloaded it on napster or something. Back when that was legal lol.
I love that song so much!
Since hearing that song and reading all kinds of Arthurian legend books I become obsessed with Mordred.

Hmmm, actually I've heard it Mordred is the son of Arthur and Morgause (his *half*-sister) who is the *sister* of Morgan le Fay.
However way the story goes, I like Mordred as well. I tend to think of him as the boy who could not escape his fate, becoming a tool to his mother's revenge scheme. I'm sure he did not like his father very much (for obvious reasons), but I like to think of him in an at least semi-positive light.
(This is mostly due to BBC's Merlin and Asa Butterfield's portrayal of Mordred. 
Anyway, very, very good job with this piece! I can never get acrylics to work for me, lol. Keep up the good work!

As far as who his mother is, I know that it changes fro story to story. I guess the first ones that I read or saw had Morgaine as his mother so I always think of it that way. In some tales Morgause is the evil sorceress.

Hmm, yeah you're right. I did some research and saw that it does change. Since all the stories surrounding King Arthur are legends I guess there's not really a "right" version, at least not to full extent. Everyone agrees on the basics (sword in the stone, Excalibur, Gwenivere/Lancelot, etc.), but the details are rather fuzzy.
Hehe, the BBC Merlin isn't very historically accurate, but it's deliciously marvelous. And the Mordred episode is especially chilling and beautiful. It's my favorite episode of the season. And Asa's just adorable.
