Oh, ok. The idea is that desperation can make you do desperate and futile things, which may end in a even more desperate situation. In this case, attaching wings to your back, will not give you the ability to fly, it doesn't matter how much you struggled to get them. The wings in exchange for his legs is of course open for interpretation on its own. But I'm definitely also fine with a more positive interpretation, like the idea, that maybe, for whatever reason, the wings will actually work, even though this is not what I would take from my drawing. By the way, I don't have such a negative outlook on life in general, this is just one possible scenario.
