Description A bit late again, but finished the 3rd installment of ~kawaiidebu 's sketch a day challenge.
This is semi-on topic compared to the previous one.
A big (shirtless) guy throwing scimitars and slicing people around, with some flying around in the background.

This is another character I'm working on for a friend's game. He is a goliath, that is sort of an "almost-giant" race, so he looks like a very big, and hard skinned, human. The "black spots" are natural skin marks. The rest of his skin is usually gray or earth-brown.

No, his name is not Kratos.

Nerd information:
Race: Goliath
Level: Epic
Classes: Warblade 8/fighter 6/tempest 4/bloodstorm thrower 6/barbarian 1/swordsage 2. Can you say cheese?

He's big. He's bad. He's a true monstrous fighting force! He's...

Hey, wait a second... In 1 Samuel... Goliath LOST.

And this dude isn't even wearing a helmet. One properly aimed sling rock (or arrow, or thrown axe) at his head, and this guy's just gonna be a big backbreaking load when his buddies carry his body off.

Yes, he's moving faster than the norm, and the head's gonna be a tougher target, but still.

All the same... good sketch.

Heh. Now that you said, I just noticed the name thing... XD
Well, as long there is no Christians in that game, my goliath is safe (I don't count, of course. lol)
Thanks man

I so seriously loathe dancing swords. With all my might รฒ_รณ

That goliath guy is similar to the Dark-Sun muls O_o Is there any chance you could send me any info about how to create a char of that race? I am wondering here if a she-goliath is available

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

dwarfpriest In reply to Satsurou [2007-11-15 18:47:46 +0000 UTC]

Those are not dancing swords. He's actually throwing them XD It's a complex build using Tome of Battle, and lots of cheese.
I'll try to send you some info about him later. They are from Races of Stone. I tried making a she-goliath once, but never finished it. They can be interesting.

Satsurou In reply to dwarfpriest [2007-11-16 00:15:39 +0000 UTC]

Ok, so he throw the swords... and they come back to his hands, I assume O_o I hate returning weapons too... even if his tactic is so easily stoppable when he is at the same level as the enemies. (it would be different if he was concealed or on a second floor.

Yum. Cheese Ok man, thanks! satsurou@gmail.com (in case you don't have my mail). It would be appreciated I'll create one myself (and if there is any pic of how would one of them look, it would be great... I mean... their faces aren't... um... "ogrish", right? o_O )

Thanks There's a lot of stuff you can get if you have access to several books.
But the new 4th edition is said to get things simpler.

i can garentee nothing can be made simpler in that book unless someone sits there a nd "trains" me for hours on end XD

Lol. Not really. Bendy uses a ball-and-chain type of weapon. You are still free to kill him yourself.

Warblades rock! XD

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

dwarfpriest In reply to Fukureru-Shogun [2007-11-11 05:48:17 +0000 UTC]

They do.
I'm still wondering about going crusader though... XD They are what paladins were supposed to be :3

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Fukureru-Shogun In reply to dwarfpriest [2007-11-11 07:06:05 +0000 UTC]

Paladins are my favorite class- but thats because I love Knights and shining armor, Stories about Galahad and Roland and all that.
That being said, I played a Crusader who was basically a Paladin in theme, and I had a lot of fun- and he was a force to be reckoned with!

Warblades are my favorite class in TOB, but Crusader is actually a little bit stronger a class I think...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

dwarfpriest In reply to Fukureru-Shogun [2007-11-11 19:47:48 +0000 UTC]

Paladins are my fave too. Crusader is considered the stronger class just because of his recover method that resets all his maneuvers at once.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Fukureru-Shogun In reply to dwarfpriest [2007-11-11 23:55:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, its kind of crazy. Mine would wade into a group of baddies, use his mauvers- and bam, he got them all back again. XD

Cool, I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes them!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

dwarfpriest In reply to Fukureru-Shogun [2007-11-12 00:39:41 +0000 UTC]

People said that it's already confirmed that paladins will get the "challenge" ability from the knight. We are hopping for maneuvers like abilities from the crusader now

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Fukureru-Shogun In reply to dwarfpriest [2007-11-12 03:15:00 +0000 UTC]

I hope they get maneuvers or something like that as well.

CloudTheRikkuLover [2007-11-11 04:26:29 +0000 UTC]

That is awesome! What Swordsage strikes and stances does he know?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

dwarfpriest In reply to CloudTheRikkuLover [2007-11-11 04:49:54 +0000 UTC]

Thank you
Uh.... I didn't pick them up yet... ;;; I may get mostly Iron Heart strikes to "fuel" his weapon throwing ability. I could go extra cheese and get 1 level of crusader, just to gain 5 more level 1 maneuvers, since I'll burn it all into the thrower's ability.
I'm reading the book again to learn which powers I will get.
The basic moves I've seen thus far that I could use are Sudden Leap, Raging Moongose, and Time Stands Still. Maybe some of those maneuvers to use Concentration Checks instead of Will/Ref saves.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

CloudTheRikkuLover In reply to dwarfpriest [2007-11-11 05:11:30 +0000 UTC]

Ahh, nice. When I usually look at that book, I like to go with the Warblade for some reason. Then I get the Monkey Grip ability and wield the biggest greataxe I can use. I've been thinking about using a goliath character, since I'm starting to break the half-ogres a little too much. XD

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

dwarfpriest In reply to CloudTheRikkuLover [2007-11-11 05:47:38 +0000 UTC]

The problem with monkey grip is that you take the -2 to attacks for a *possibly* better damage. Power Attack by itself is better. If you can go epic and Wield Oversized Weapon, it gets a bit better, but there's two feats waster (monkey grip is prereq). You could homebrew the Oversized one to simply replace monkey grip, as long it has a different req (like bab +4).
Otherwise, it's better to go with half-ogre or goliath. Goliath have powerful build (you can use bigger weapons from level1), and a +4 for Str, with only a LA+1! PS: Monkey grip and powerful build doesn't stack

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

CloudTheRikkuLover In reply to dwarfpriest [2007-11-11 09:01:59 +0000 UTC]

WotC actually stated Monkey Grip and Powerful Build doesn't stack? Damn, that sucks. That would have been fun to see a goliath walk around with an axe version of the Buster Sword and just demolish anything around him with the epic Whirlwind Attack. =3 People do not like it when I play my preferred race, a half-ogre with the half-dragon template...which is why I am guessing we always do low leveled games.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

dwarfpriest In reply to CloudTheRikkuLover [2007-11-11 19:47:00 +0000 UTC]

I don't know if it's official, but most people assume it is.
Half-ogre/half-dragon is cool... until someone beat you because he have 5 more class levels than you XD
Now, here's a bitching trick. With my swordsage levels, I can use the mystic version, to cast Enlarge Person (more Str bonuses, and higher reach, and the weapon becomes bigger) and Mighty Wallop (the weapon damage increases one size category) as maneuvers... So my scimitar will go from a normal 1d6 to 3d6 If I had one feat to spare, I'd get something like bastard sword or dwarven waraxe, so my weapon damage can scale up from 1d10 to 4d8! Yeah, it's cheezy as heck.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

CloudTheRikkuLover In reply to dwarfpriest [2007-11-12 01:51:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that one flaw of my favorite race, which is why I play Tiny in high level games. Also, thanks for the tips, I am so going to annoy the DM when we make a new game. XD Also, what kind of enchantments if any are on the scimitar? Sorry about all of the replies, I'm just a big D&D fan and love conversing about it.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

dwarfpriest In reply to CloudTheRikkuLover [2007-11-12 12:27:14 +0000 UTC]

Nah, it's okay. I love talking about D&D too XD
Hmm... for now he has none, only a +6 bonus, meaning they are epic, and therefore, expensive. However, when I talked to my DM, he comented on how the character sheets he was writting had no epic weapons, so I guess it's not really needed, so I'll stuff them with non-epic magic enhancements. Maybe a +5 fire burst/sonic burst and a +5 icy burst/shocking burst.
Or since I have quick draw, I can get 1 of each (shocking, icy, sonic, fire) and use them as I wish.
Also found some errors in my math, so I had to change some things around. Now he is a barbarian 1/fighter 6/warblade 14/bloodstorm thrower 6/swordsage 2. We should set up a chat sometime to discuss the details
