Description TyrantisTerror Prompt: Hydra

Instead of drawing another hydra, here's a balaur, one of the dragons of Romania. Though it shares its range with the Slavic zmey, the balaur is a native to the region. Balaur are easily among the more "basic" dragons as they are sedentary, spending most of their days in their cave homes near lakes. There they collect vast hordes, not for a mate like bower birds, but for their own personal pleasure. Dragons, like birds, are very particular about their nests. After a certain point in their lifetime balaur gain the ability to think, reason, and speak like humans. Balaur don't make very good neighbors, as even with human intelligence they don't have the innate sympathy other humans feel for each other.
This gets filed under the "hydra" prompt because, like a few other dragons, they can develop several smaller heads, in a medical problem I call the "Lernean Syndrome". Due to some irregularity in development, the dragon will grow several smaller, less developed heads branching out from the spine. These heads are very simply, having no true brain, simple eyes, keratinous teeth-like scales, but a fully developed esophagus which connects to the parent stomach. Using their extra sensory systems, the balaur can be aware of its surroundings even when asleep. If the heads are killed in some way it does not overly affect the balaur, who will patch over the hole in its armor to stop bleeding. Balaur with human intelligence try and remove these heads if they pop up, considering them revolting and... annoying.
