Description


Duncan and Courtney frantically puts their clothes on noticing that the soldier isn't getting closer to them. Caida finishes getting dressed and looks at Duncan with concern while he is putting his rob back on.

Caida: Why are they looking for you?

Duncan: (Shrugs) It seems my army returned with important news. (Turns to her) You should go back to the palace before he comes here. (She starts to walk off but he clutches onto the amulet that was hanging around his neck which made him realize he forgot something) Wait! (She stops and turns to him) Take my amulet. (takes it off and puts it on her hands) Just so if you ever want to see me…..you would be allowed in. (He kisses her until he hears the soldier coming closer. He turns to her) Hide in the long grass…..he won't see you at all.

Caida: (nods and lays down deep in the grass but then says out loud) I love you.

Duncan: (Even though he heard her say that before but only because she was filled with passion and lust. Now hearing it without those emotions he smirked and looked down at her.) I heard that. Say it again I command you!

Caida giggles until she hears the soldier coming up to Duncan and keeps quiet. This soldier runs up to him whose name is Tyler.

Tyler: Captain! (Duncan Turns to him) We have been looking for you…..the Princess was worried about you.

Duncan: (Didn't react fully to the news since Sarah wasn't on his mind but then snaps into faking his reaction) Oh yeah! I'm sorry for scaring her but she won't need to worry because I just wanted to sleep out here under the stars……Uhhh is there anything else you need to tell me?

Tyler: Yes captain, we captured the Nubian king!

Caida heard this and gasped quietly. However Duncan was overjoyed with this news and got all excited.

Duncan: Dude! That's great news!.....Ummmm let me know who was responsible for this and they'll get my highest honors. I'll be on my way.

Tyler: Yes Captain! (runs off)

Duncan is still smiling to himself until he turns around seeing a devastated Caida standing behind him. Duncan knows why and feels bad.

Duncan: (sighs) Caida….(puts his hand on her shoulder) Our countries are at war, I can't change that.

Caida: (holding back tears) But he's my Fa – (stops herself from saying "Father") h-he is my k-king. (Hopes that Duncan would understand but instead he gives her a glare and storms off leaving her upset and broken hearted.)

She walks off a little bit the background changing into the Nubian village with the lights dim in a orange and yellow coloring. All of the Nubians rushes up to her with tears in their eyes. They heard the news as well. Leshawna runs up to her and pulls her hand in hers while sobbing.

Leshawna: Princess say it isn't true! (weeps and goes on her knees)

DJ: (Runs up screaming like a sissy) I SAW THE KING BEING DRAGGED IN THE VILLAGE WITH MY OWN EYES!!!!!!

Sierra: (Crying while hugging onto Cody with force) It's so tragic! My Cody better not be next!

Cody: (Quietly says) Says long if it means getting away from her than I'll take it.

All of the Nubians shouts things in panic and surrounds Caida but she can't stop their weeping.

Cody: (Gets out of Sierra's arms and rushes up to her) I hear he's being taking to the prison!

Gwen: (With tears in her eyes) There's only a matter of time until the Egyptians slaughters him!

DJ: Now when the King dies, so will Nubia.

Caida: (Turns to him) NO! NUBIA WILL NEVER DIE! (Shakes her head slowly with tears trickling down her cheek. She walks around in the circle of concerned villagers.) Whether we are enslaved, or whether we a far from our native soil, (Clutches on her chest area) Nubia lives in our hearts! (Breathes a little bit) And therefore it…..lives. (she starts singing)

A light piano melody starts playing.

A light harp melody starts playing

Leshawna:
(Stands up and Caida walks up to her)
The gods love Nubia, their glorious creation
Its songs roll sweetly across the harvest plain

Leshawna and Caida:
(they hold hands and face each other)
The tears of Nubia, a passing aberration
They wash into the river and are never cried again

Leshawn, Caida, Cody, and Nubian Woman:
(Cheerfully Chants and sings)

The scattered and divided, we are still it's heart
(They all crowd around Caida slightly and the men joins them in)

Caida:
(Grabs onto Leshawna's hand and gleefully belts out)
The fall of Nubia, ephemeral and fleeting
The spirit always burning though the flesh is torn apart.

All:
(Everyone looks at one another either holding their hands or hugging them to give them comfort)

(All of them groups up to the front of the stage facing to the audience with Caida in front)
