Description I just wanted to share how I draw with you all

FINAL PIECE: --> www.deviantart.com/dxtrrr/art/…

1.

I start with a basic pose which I either came up with myself or is a combination of several official art pieces (Anime/Concept Art/Sprite Art/3D Models/Trading Cards) I never try to copy and past by giving it my own spin. This first sketch is to make sure the pose fits within the square frame I choose for all these drawing.

2.

Now I refine the character and give it all the right proportions. I try to use as many geometric shapes so the character will stay on model. I try not to erase anything in this stage because the paper will get to messy for the later stages.

3.

Now I trace my drawing with a fine lines. This is the last point at which I can correct my anatomy/pose so you sometimes see some slight changes between stage 2 and 3.

4.

Now its time to erase all the pencil line art and try to make the drawing as clean as possible.

5.

Enter the markers! In the first stage of colouring I always lay down a flat colour for each area. So no shading yet! I always enjoy this part because I get to pick and choose the colours from my many markers

6.

To add depth I add another layer of colour on top of the previous one but this time only in the areas that are in the dark to create a shade/shadow.

7.

It's hard to see on this piece but I always work with 2 shade levels. The second level is reserved for the darkest spaces and the spaces that are hidden behind other parts.

8.

After I scan a piece the colours sometime changes from the real-life counterpart. I try to digitally correct them and bring them more in line with the actual drawing. In this case it was the fluorescent yellow background that didn't want to show up properly on the scan so I enhanced it. Sometimes I also digitally remove stains that are left over from the erasing stage. And in very rare occasions I had to fix mistakes I made in the fine liner stage because those can't be erased traditionally.

Please feel free to comment and critique so I can learn and grow.
