Description
Chasing the Sun is a fan-project that takes place before the events of Avatar: the Last Airbender. It's a darker story about human trafficking and the world of assassination during a time of warThis is a set of character studies, both of default outfits and body types/diversity.
I apologize for semi-nudity, but I don't really think it needs a mature filter
There's no comic (yet), we're just in the for-fun conceptualizing phase and will be for a while

These are my characters, Shani (left) and Hiu (right).
Shani is an unhinged and deadly killer from the swamp tribe.
She's gangly but ferocious, and one of the most dangerous members of the whole group; even to her own team members.
Hiu is a non-bending assassin who doubles as a concubine in the same house as Sika.
She specializes in sex-assassinations, but don't under-estimate her strength.
She's gender-fluid, but mainly identifies as female.

I guess the best way to summarize them... is they're for mental training and obedience. The style is inspired by shibari, a type of bondage that originated in Japan

Do the people who are assassinated by Hiu know they are getting into bed with a male? Or is that kind of an added element of surprise?

Yes, she is male bodied
It's actually a theme that I'm working with in Hiu and Sika's "profession"

It took me a while but I realized Hiu has a male body. I really love how ambiguous you made her; she is pretty much the character i like best in the Crimson Sand :'3c

Although I liked all the designs I pause ot comment on this one because I simply must praise you for the 'reality' of theese characters. I love the investment on different body types and shapes, as well as personlities clearly shown through pose. Wonderfull work. ^^ This is jsut so particularly clear in theese guys.

the ropes that Shani wears.. are they like a pain endurance? because the naked version she has the scars where the ropes are.

Wow. They both are simply amazing. Love Shani's skinny, most likely unhealthy body, fits pretty perfect. And though I never really heard about gender-fluidness (?), it seems quite awesome and fits Hiu just right. But what is Hiu on a physical aspect, male of female?

Thank you! Shani was a lot of fun to draw- I wouldn't say she's too crazy skinny (I considered giving her a bonier body) but I'm glad she still looks a little on the unhealthy side despite that

I love the physical diversity you give all these characters! Even when I'm looking at two physically fit characters, there are so many little details that separate them! It gives these characters a realistic feel to them and that takes effort. Well done, truly.
