Description
Chasing the Sun is a fan-project that takes place before the events of Avatar: the Last Airbender. It's a darker story about human trafficking and the world of assassination during a time of warThis is a set of character studies, both of default outfits and body types/diversity.
I apologize for semi-nudity, but I don't really think it needs a mature filter
There's no comic (yet), we're just in the for-fun conceptualizing phase and will be for a while

This is my character, Sika.
A fire-bending dancer and showgirl, Sika is soft-spoken but has a young elegance about her.
She's skinny and prone to the cold, but very flexible and in control of her movements.
She identifies as female, and her older brother is Shii
And that's it for the main heroes!
I'll be working on other characters from this project throughout the week

ah, I ought to expect that by now. C: I like that you have multiple kinds of sexuality and gender identities in your work. though in my own work I'd probably only have one or two characters per story that are not straight. That has mostly to do with the fact that I am straight and I don't really know enough people who aren't straight to really be able to represent anything else too well. :c

She is positively gorgeous. Trans~ characters have always interested me and I've always wanted to make one myself, but felt I could never pull it off properly (I'm... almost too gender organized for it and it holds me back).

(also just a small thing, if you want to get started with trans* characters, it'd be good to unlearn using "actual" gender, but "assigned" gender. Saying "actual" implies that they're an extreme abnormality and ignores the fact that gender is a socially constructed idea for segregating people based on physical characteristics)

Very pretty. I've been following your work for a while, but for some stupid reason I've never got around to actually commenting. Sorry about that. Anyways, she looks really pretty. Her face is really soft and cute, like a young doll. Sophisticated and elegante! I'm also quite jealous of your ability to draw different body types. Mine are usually very curvy, but I'm getting there. I really like her middle dress because it seems to be a bit more modern, which is something that'd make her unique. Then on the other side of the modern dress, you've got the traditional one, which is really neat. I quite like how you drew the sleeves there, allowing for her thin hands to be seen so the sense of frailty is reinforced. However, (and know that I'm nowhere near an expert on kimonos) aren't the sleeves usually longer? Or does she need her sleeves short for her work? Totally loving her hair and the fact that she's a fire dancer as well.
You have a really unique idea that I'm really interested in seeing more of. I believe that you're going somewhere most people wouldn't and exploring a side of war that really does happen sometimes. Good work.

Kimonos are usually longer, but it's a fantasy setting, so I like to play with the silhouette a little more
I've actually been consciously trying harder at curvy bodies; I used to only draw stick-thin people haha.
