Description

Another digital landscape painting from a few weeks back  Because of the cold weather out here in Colorado we decided to take a note from the "Virtual Plein Air" facebook group and paint from Google street view shots. This was mine: www.google.com/maps/views/view…

I tried to do a complimentary underpainting on this one. Borrowed the technique from Shaddy Safadi's 7-part Youtube series. He goes into the color section on part 3: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPQbaB… Was quite the challenge trying to stick with such a high-key color palette.

I also recorded the whole session and will try to put together a time-lapse video for anyone interested. I've been having issues with my Premiere encoder (won't launch when i got to export). But when I get that figured out I'll be sure to post the link

Thanks again to everyone that joined up!

Look like a very pretty city! Do you enjoy it out there? Love all those names carved into the rock at the park.

Wow, that's some really beautiful architecture We don't have a whole lot of intricate facades like that out here where I live. Colorado (and the US in general) is just too new to have built that type of visual history. So it's really exciting to see it implemented elsewhere around the world.

Are you studying in the art or the architecture side of Urals?

Oh, thanks and don't be so  shy about American architecture - almost all  famous buildings in my city were made in  the 20s,just like famous American art deco architecure
I am studying Industrial design at the academy

Oh really? Fascinating. I guess I just assumed they were much older than that. Very classical design.

Awesome. Those are great skills to have!

Looks cool! I live in that region, so I've seen Nevyansk and can say it looks very realistic ^_^

Seems to be fun, Ill try one of those too I guess. Google view that is. Absolutely looking forward to the video, but I guess you guessed that anyway haha! Loving the odd perspective and how the foreground snow/ground is hit by the warm sun. beautifully done!

Definitely. Give it a shot. The wide angle lens can get a little annoying sometimes, because that's usually the only perspective you can get with those 360 degree shots. But It's fun to experiment regardless!

Will try and get that video posted by this weekend.
