I just got MediBang for my Chromebook and it works wonderfully! However, I cannot figure out how to save my file into my Google Drive (since the Chromebook doesn't have its own storage system, it operates out of your Google Drive, Docs, etc.) so that I can upload it to dA. Also, does anyone know how I could open other files (such as reference sheets or stock images) on the program from my Drive? Is this even possible?

BriarHK In reply to lilstrawbbyy [2018-08-28 03:16:15 +0000 UTC]

I've found that with chromebooks, as long as you're logged in of course, it automatically saves things like downloaded images and files to your drive. Of course, this info comes from using an outdated model, but I think it's still applicable...?

I just finished a drawing on MediBang Paint Pro and for some reason deviantart isn't letting me upload it. It says there is no MDP or preview of it and when I go to categorize my drawing, they say "This file type is unknown or disallowed". I put like 5 or 6 hours into that thing and its my first digital sketch! How do I fix this?

AvengerofSquids In reply to Gravitrax64 [2018-05-23 14:31:30 +0000 UTC]

You need to save the file as something DeviantArt can use (I save as PNG.) What you do is go to the top left, click File, then Save As. Save as what you want (but don't delete your old file, as you want to keep your layers in case you want to edit it!)

How do you get a color from a seperate image to use it on your art, like for when you're making fanart the colors have to be the same right so how would you do that without like looking for it on the color wheel
I'm sorry i'm such a noob lol

Is it possible to have two canvases open at the same time? Like how on Paint Tool Sai, you can 'minimize' a canvas so you can see two or more. It comes in handy if you're referencing something, and it's hard constantly flipping back between canvases.

Avirexii In reply to quincei [2018-06-07 23:14:20 +0000 UTC]

Yes it is, if you open a separate file they'll  appear next to each other under the snap toolbar

If you're using a reference, here are some steps:
(I'm no expert but this should help a bit)

1. Move your mouse to the top bar right underneath the title bar.
2. There should be a button named "Window", click on it.
3. Somewhere at the bottom there's a checkbox named "Reference", check it.
4. A window opens up where you can import a picture from your computer.

If you're referencing a picture from the internet:

1. Right-click on the photo.
2. Click "Save as..."
3. Put a name in and save it in whatever folder you want.

How you can import the photo on the reference? Easy.

1. Right next to the cloud icon, there's a small folder icon.
2. Click it.
3. Choose the file that you need.

Hope this helps!

Question: Would you be able to upload your digital art from this program to DeviantArt? If you can how could you do so?
Also: The sidebar that shows the layers and the whole page has disappeared on mine, I think I might've accidentally clicked something so it doesn't show anymore. I've looked around and clicked buttons and stuff, but can't seem to get it back. Would you know how you get the sidebar back up?

marisolscout In reply to HorizenDreamer [2018-01-05 14:49:53 +0000 UTC]

First save it in your computer, you need to put it in jpeg or png. Later only submit it to Deviantart

Great tutorial! Thank you!

But, uh, how do I move something? I tried using the selection tool, but all it did was move the white "background" or something instead of my actual drawing.

Thank you in advance.

did you select the wrong layer?
if you want to move the whole drawing, try putting everything into a folder then use the move tool (should be v)

TheMegaMeowstic [2017-10-02 21:56:50 +0000 UTC]

This is really nice! However, I have a small question:
So with the curve snap tool, sometimes I draw a line with it, but it's not a smooth one- rather, it's broken up with some small blobs in the general shape of how I want the line to be.
Is there any way to fix it? Or am I doing something wrong? I tried moving my pointer closer to the snap thing, since if I move it farther away there are more blobs, and it worked fine for a bit, but then went back to being blobby.

Hey, i don't know if this is still an issue for you, but for most image sites mdp (file used for medibang) is really bad for formatting due to it's size and relevance to Medibang. To upload your piece, save it as a png and then upload. You will lose your layers if you try to draw with the png, so have two copies available. One for mdp and the other for png.

SP33DCxRE--SLvT In reply to pzreich24 [2017-09-05 08:36:31 +0000 UTC]

Okay, thanks! ^^
Also, I've tried saving it as a png but never found out how.
Would you, by any chance, know how to?
Thanks for the rest though, appreciated! :3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pzreich24 In reply to SP33DCxRE--SLvT [2017-09-05 12:48:43 +0000 UTC]

Yes I would! So on the very top toolbar of the page click File and then click Save As, which you will then be prompted with a dialog box. Then below that there should be a box saying MedibangPaintPro (*.mdp). Click on that and you will have another drop down menu that has a list of different file options including PNG, JPEG, Bitmap, PSD, etc. Clicking on PNG and saving will prompt you with another box to warn you about unsaved layers, but just proceed and just click Transparent png. So there you have it! To make any changes in the future and keep your layers just resave it as an mdp file and replace your old one. There will be two files now so you can both continue to work on it and post it places :3
Hope this helps!
