Beautiful work! c: I just have to ask, how "hard" would you say 3D modeling is compared to drawing, or compared to sculpture/clay or wool modeling? I'm just beginning learning 3D animation and I think I want to start with modeling and possibly learning Zbrush before I learn Maya.

Regarding ZBrush specifically:
Some things that are difficult in real life are a lot easier and quicker in ZBrush, and some things really easy to do in real life are complicated and annoying to do in ZBrush. I think overall it's about the same difficulty skill-wise, but the process as a whole is definitely much quicker in ZBrush, which is really great.
The problem is going to come when you're first starting out, there's a very steep learning curve. The first few days you're probably not going to be able to sculpt anything as quickly or as good-looking as you want, just don't be discouraged. Watch a tutorial on the basics and practice with something very simple and easy to do. Try different brushes to see how they work and constantly Google the answers to any problems or questions you have. You'll eventually get the hang of it and it'll all be really easy.

However, I don't think ZBrush is the best program to start out with if you've never done any digital 3D stuff before. Especially if you're sculpting for animation, learn either Blender or Maya first because you need to understand how 3D rendering/animation works on a technical level so you'll actually know what you should be aiming for in your models. Otherwise you'll just have a sculpture in ZBrush and nothing to do with it.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply! I will keep your points in mind when I start learning more 3D and modeling. c:

The anatomy and details is astounding!
Have you ever consider becoming a video game designer?

I'd love to do creature concepts/models for any medium.

Dude..this is insane.
Zbrush is not easy to use, either. The amount of detail in this is gorgeous, and you definitely used the lighting to your advantage
