Description I recently got my girlfriend hooked on Bruce Coville. Namely, Rod Allbright's Alien Adventures. Anyone else ever read those? They're juvenile sci fi novels, starring a clumsy sixth grader named Rod, his cousin Elspeth, and the crew of the Galactic Patrol ship, the Ferkel, which crashed through his bedroom window one day (miniaturized, of course ^_~ ) and landed in his science project. The captain, Grakker, forces Rod to help them since their ship is broken. It leads to many nifty adventures ^_^ This picture is Captain Grakker (the green one) fallen asleep while doing paperwork. Grakker voluntarily shares his quarters with the ships 'mental officer', Flinge Iblik (Snout) , which is the purple fellow on the bed. They are cool @_@ I like how Coville managed to put Snout and Grakker together subtley enough that no one but adults are going to pick it up. There's much info about them that is only really noticable to adults, including the mess with Selima Kahn. If you read these books as a kid, read em again. If not, go now and find them *poke poke* The books in the series are "Aliens Ate my Homework, I Left My Sneakers In Dimension X, Search for Snout, and Aliens Stole My Body." By Bruce Coville.

Put a better scan in April 5th! finally --;

Finally! I knew I would find SOMETHING for my love of Snout and Grakker. It took me a while, but I found it. I now consider you a god among all living beings. Not only because of the point of the drawing, but because it's absolutely beautiful, also. I'll have to get some of my work from the series up on DA, too.

Ooh, you've drawn Coville stuff? WOOT! ^___^ <3

And thank you! There is absolutely no fandom for anything Coville, which makes me sad, because I love all of his books so. Especially the Rod Allbright ones. ^^

Long time reader of the Rod Allbright adventures here: WHERE IS THE FANDOM!?!? Fanfiction.net doesn't even have anything, I checked! If anyone found anything I missed, feel free to let me know! Honestly, I should just write it my damn self.

You know, I think I noticed the relationship between Grakker and Snout when I was a kid, but it never made me blink because no one was filling my head with nonsense yet. Luckily by the time they tried to it was far too late for me to fall for bigotry! And yeah, the mess with Selima Kahn, I mean the hints were there but Bruce literally leaves us with nothing but subtly hidden drama that we never delve into, because as Snout said: "It's a personal matter."

Well damn leave me hangin why dontcha! My guess is that Selima is Snout's ex gf or something, not sure what the remaining drama is about. At one point he makes a hand gesture Rod had never seen before then Semila gets offended, I'm guessing he basically flipped her off.

Maybe Bruce left it empty just so we could fill in the spaces with head cannon and fanfiction!

My gosh. In all my wanderings on DA and all my fangeek tendencies, I never thought to look up Bruce Coville, because I assumed that no one (NO ONE!) would ever draw it. And now I find you! Jumping Jesus on crack! I still own all the books (except for "I Left My Sneakers in Dimension X," which I never bought) and I never thought... hmm.

Great. Now I'm going to have to reread the books with a slashy mindset. You punkrat fascist, you!

I love the various stuff you've got in the background, the paperlesswork. You've even got the little Standard Galactic letters, how cute! And there's Snout, looking as impenetrably (aaarrrgh, why'd I have to use that word) Yoda-on-Prozac-ish as usual.

Wow, there's someone else who read those books! Woot! ^__^ Glad you like the picture. Grakker is surprisingly difficult to draw, since he doesn't have quite human proportions. But it's so worth it. I should really draw them more.

And yes. Go reread the books. Reread them and adore them. ^_^ Yay for subtle alien slash.

Yoda on Prozac XD Yeah. Thats so Snout. <3

Yes! They were my favorite books as a kid, and they still hold a place of honor in my headboard so I can read them whenever. And my god, I'm going through again, and you're RIGHT. Somehow I never noticed that stuff. And the good thing is, there aren't any berserker yaoi fans going after it, so it's actually fun! Bishounen Grakker... :shudder:

Amazing! I love Snout ^^ He's just like I pictured him. Actually, I re-read this series recently and noticed a lot of things I hadn't when I was younger. Who knew Bruce Coville books were so subtle?
