"It's a shooting range."

"A what?"

"A shooting range!" I know the others are giving me a funny look, but I don't bother to meet it. Instead, I continue with carefully picking at the radio's wiring with the tweezers I found in the counter's drawers, humming the tune I made up earlier. It's fun, if I do say so myself; maybe I'll make lyrics and sing it to the girls! Oooooh, maybe I'll call it "Smile"... or maybe "Smile Smile Smile!"

Goodness, I keep this up and--

"What makes you say that?"

Ooooooh yeaah. I forgot about that.

I stop what I'm doing and wave my arms about, gesturing to the interier as a whole before pointing out to the opened garage door.

"Just look around, girls! Why else would a building lead out to a field filled with ripped up paper and discarded bullet shells? Or have crates of ammo lyin' around, hmm? Or have weapon's lockers back there?" I point to my right at one of the lockers I'm referring to, this one wide open and empty... bummer the guns aren't there, though. Maybe in the locked up ones? Hm.

Anyway, I grin around the lollipop in my mouth as the rest do just that; look around. In all honesty, it's a funny place to be made into a gunrange, but something tells me the previous owner manually set the place up the way it was himself, or herself. Probably because there wasn't an official one around? We ARE kinda far from the city now.

"...That'd explain the weird arragement of the place." I nod sagely, pointing my tweezers to Aj.

"Exactamundo!"

Dashie only shakes her head and takes another look around, hoping down from the garage to begin exploring the field outside.

"Well, no use tryin'a figure this place out. I'ma take a look around, see if there's any spare guns lyin' about."

"Awright then. Ah'm gonna double check the front; might as well lock down if'n we're gonna stay for a spell."

Twilight sighs after having one last glance about, apparently giving up on trying to figure out why the building was converted to what it is now (or something close, knowing the silly filly). "Well, I may as well check the upstairs. There may be something useful up there. You coming, Spike?"

That reminds me!

I stop fooling with the radio to call out the pair before they head up. "The password is 'Riddle'! Just make sure you spell it with numbers like you would on a cell phone."

"What?"

"The door, you silly filly! It needs a password to open up; I found it in the computer." I point at the dimming desktop monitor on the floor in question. "But be careful, 'Kay? Who knows what they were trying to keep out... or in."

Twi stares at me for a moment before coming back to grab her favored baseball bat and giving it to Spike, muttering under her breath as she herself shoulders her crowbar. Something about "improbable?"

"It's what I'm here for!" I see a smile beginning to form before the unicorn and dragon make their way upstairs.

Score one for Pinkie, heehee.

"Just shout if you need us, darling. I'm going to take a look at the lockers. Maybe I can manage to get them open."

Which left me with good ol' Fluttershy. We didn't say anything for a moment, except for my humming, but I could see the yellow pegasus staring at the radio in my hands.

"Um... what are you doing to it?"

"Fixing it up! It was kinda pooey when I found it but when I'm through it'll be working again, and we can use it!"

Fluttershy tilts her head at me, curious; I managed to keep myself from squealing. What can I say? She doesn't know how cute she is sometimes. D:

"The radio channels would still work?

"Mmm... maybe not. But I can make it pick up other signals instead of just channels for music."

"Like... other radios?"

"Yep!"

"You think Canterlot would still be broadcasting?"

That made me pause. I've considered it already but it was still a good question. WOULD they still be broadcasting? Even in all of this.... um... well, mess?

"Hhmmmmmmm..... it's very very very possible, for sure, with all those guards and stuff protecting the city all the time. Who knows? Maybe they're sending out patrols and stuff to beat up all the meanie zombie ponies."

"Y-you think so?"

"Maybe. Not everything's impossible."

I put the tweezers down and dig into the drawer again for my next tool, but then I stop to look up at the still watching Fluttershy. I send a grin her way and hold out the half-finished radio for her to take, smiling wider at her near-startled look.

"You wanna help?"

"I-ah-um... M-me?"

"Sure!"

She stares at the radio with a... what was it? Tentative? Yeah! A tentative expression before she slowly begins to nod, her curiousity and a strange calm determination falling over her eyes.

"Okay."

"Sweet! Let's get crackin', then, huh?"

Here we have good ol' Pinkie Pie. Her's is among the longest of the "short stories" I wrote for these images... but once I started it was hard to find a stopping point. o3o Again, I'm sorry if they seem a bit out of character, but ahh... I'd figure maybe Pinkie would be a tad bit more calm when concentrating on something. c:

Pinkie was hard to decide for, but I finally went for Resourceful.

Not only is she among the more energetic of the group and keeps hope alive, she's also someone who has a variety of skillsets. I could see her as the type to know how to do quite a few things if only because she took on several odd jobs (especially in the engineering department) before ultimately becoming a baker, so how she utilizes these skills plays an important role in the group's survival. Pinkie knows how to think on the spot and use whatever's on hand in a way that can benefit the group. She can repair a broken radio, hotwire a car or fix its engine, even create new necessary equipment out of junk, and that's just naming a few things she can do.

Here we have her repairing a radio at an amateur-made shooting range pub.

I'd figure a radio would be a valuable item to have in a zombie situation; they could use it to find out the latest information (if a broadcast is kept up anyway), find other survivors or frequencies from possible safeholds, and, if everyone has one, keep in contact with the rest of the group, even when they're separated. To my admittingly little knowledge, an amateur radio can do that if equipped with the right installations. o3o For anyone who knows, however, please correct me if I'm wrong. O:

But uh.... yeeeup. :3
