Description I was given the statement, “Open your eyes” and was asked to make an installation. I wanted to open people’s eyes to beauty, but not the just the normal everyday beauty. The beauty I wanted people, specifically students, to see was the beauty not normally seen in an ordinary space we see every day.
I took an empty dorm room and photographed it in extraordinary light to enhance the beauty of each aspect of the room. I didn’t disturb any of the furniture in the room. I felt that I should keep everything in its original placement from how the people before me left it.
Before this assignment I used this room to hang my clothes to dry. I’ve kept the same use of the room but Instead of displaying my drying laundry I’ve replaced it with beautiful cyanotypes.
