Watched the time lapse. It was fast! But I suppose you don't want to give away all your trade secrets!? One burning question however; why do you dip it in water? Is that water?

I do that to wash off the excess oil and sanding dust from the sculpey

So do you bake the paint? How many times does it get baked?

You can bake paint to a certain extant, it will fade more and more each time you bake it. I sometimes paint first just as a base coat. I think this particular owl was baked 4 times.

so what is the benefit to baking paint then? and to baking multiple times? hope you don't mind my questions!

It's better to have a base coat of paint that is similar to the final coat rather than having to paint in solid colors after the color clay has been put on an blank unpainted toy. I would have to chip and sand and avoid accidentally painting on the color clay which is very tedious. Painting a base coat is easier and a more effective way to have a solid clean looking toy when you're done.
