Othala | Freedom's Flight | Medic

“Get out of here lass. Go get some sleep. That tired you will be of no help.”The Flocks apothecary had send her away with a weak smile on her face and closed the door of the provisory hospital behind her. Now the young, grey mare was alone again. She did not cared about being for herself for sometime, what she feared were her own thoughts. At work she was able to lock them away, but now them came creeping back into her mind.
Renata was right, she should go and take a nap. Since the Flock’s attack on the city some days ago, she had only slept agitated for a few hours a day until she buried herself into work again.
Her legs moved without her really noticing and her hooves found the way that lead homewards without any intervention on her part. After only a few steps her coat was completely damp from the warm drizzling rain that had started this afternoon and the weight of wet feathers on her back seemed to fit her mood perfectly. She felt so tired, both physically and mentally.
Before she was even close to her home, her hooves suddenly changed the direction and lead her on a different path. She couldn’t go home. The only thing that waited there for her were hollow rooms and memories from the time when everything appeared so easy.
She had spent hours to find her family after the attack and at the end of the day she found them all back in Torrine. If she was honest to herself, then she knew that this would happen. Her parents sided with Talori. Othala didn’t dared to speak with them, she just watched them from the distance like a coward. And then she realized something. Her brother was not with them. Tegan was missing and she spend another day searching for the young colt. There was no trace of him, he had just disappeared and she was not able to find him. Well...at least there was no little, winged corpse in all that chaos, so she turned back to work, for there was enough to do for a medic.
Now as she walked the streets alone, the worry was back. If she was only able to find him…
Suddenly she reached a part of the city that was obviously affected by the Flock’s attack. Many buildings were destroyed and the streets that had always been bursting with life were now hollow. Only seldomly another horse crossed her path, mostly pegasi that scurried quickly past her. Everyone left in freedom was busy, and no one stopped to talk to her. For her it seemed like almost the whole herd was crammed in Torrine and she wondered how long the Flock could hold the city. The defender was dead, the Emperor still missing, probably escaped. Only fools would believe that this wouldn’t have an aftermath.
Othala paused and released a deep, shaky breath and turned her gaze towards the destruction the Flock had unleashed. With a rustle of feathers she spread her wings. She knew that she was unable to sleep right now. Maybe she would just fly for some time...looking again for the smallest trace of her brother.

Whitaker | Freedom's Flight ; written by tarried-sea

Foolishly, he believed he could wander the streets for days on patrol without returning to Torrine for sustenance. True, the rolling bitterness in his mouth staved off most of his hunger, but it had been a week since he'd been to Torrine, and his pack was running low on grain and fresh water.
He didn't want to. He hadn't spoken to a soul in days. He watched them scuttle around the streets- mostly Flock members, some new Talorian allies who he didn't recognize. Let them believe he was so stoic that he refrained from sociability.
He shrugged his saddlebag so that it was balanced on his back again between his wings. He looked up between the buildings. The skies had been gray all afternoon, and now released warm drizzling rain on his back. Better head out now before it got dark and he'd be more lost than a newborn in the Vastlands.
He walked slowly, trying not to make too much noise on the cobbled streets. Not that he needed to lay low. The Flock had control now, and it was his right to be walking in this godforsaken city. Rather, the streets were so empty and ghostly that he felt a weird reverence toward them. If he'd been a stranger to loneliness, he might think it eerie.
He passed by a side street and out the corner of his eye saw another figure walking away from him. He would have kept going except-
Gray wings.
Othala.
He froze in his step, watching her walk away. What was she doing here? He hadn't seen her since Antiope ordered the factions to split up. She was a medic. Shouldn't she be in Torrine?
He blinked a few times. She was the first warm thing he'd seen in days. Should he call her? Right before she turned a corner, he found his voice.
"Othala!"
Immediate regret. What the hell, Whit. Do you think this is a proper time to flirt? She's not going to be impressed by your sorry ass right now.
But she symbolized normalcy. Familiarity. He had hardly ever spoken to her before- they were barely acquaintances- but she was someone.

Ahhhh! Emely! Literally yesterday after reading your post I thought "I really need to draw this RP" and here you go, reading my mind

I love this so much! You really captured the dim lighting and the rain outside the window, and I love the composition in general? Like having Whit in the foreground looking at Othala is so much more interesting than them just sitting across from each other or something. Thank you so much for drawing my boy! I am thoroughly enjoying RPing with you!
