Way back when I hatched my first Happiny in Diamond, I didn't know how to evolve her into a Chansey. I was a dumb trainer, so I assumed that Happiny was like other baby Pokemon and evolved by happiness instead of looking it up to be sure. I kept training her and smothering her in Poffins and long walks in an attempt to get a Chansey.After her levels reached the mid 50's, she finally evolved! I was so happy, especially since I got a Blissey right afterwards with little effort. It was only a few weeks later when I realized that I was completely wrong. Blissey evolved from Happiness while Happiny evolved from having an Oval Stone during the day. Turns out, the game glitched and decided to evolve my Happiny without the stone.
Sadly, the Blissey is no longer with me because I was really concerned that the glitch was a risk to my game so she never left the Diamond game. But now every Happiny I catch is named Glitch after the first one, including my Shiny one that decided to interrupt my Pichu shiny chain in Moon.

It's a nice story now, but man did that glitch make me so nervous. I thought she was going to corrupt my game and I'd lose my first team.

Well, worst case scenario, it'd be just like this Lugia that I got as a gift from a friend:
in case you don't want to look at the original deviation, the first two "Digits" of its experience point number are "-?"
it wouldn't transfer via Pokemon Transporter to the newer games.

Oh, that's weird. It looks like it was hacked with Action Replay? It should not be in negative experience points. Unfortunately, you probably won't be able to transfer it. I know that if a Pokemon knows illegal moves or abilities, it will assume it was hacked and deny it.
I know that way back, I used one to get my first Darkrai (My favorite Legendary) because I couldn't go to the movie event to get one myself. It refused to battle online after I transferred him to Pokemon Battle Revolution, even though all I did was give myself the item to go get him. I now have legit Darkrais and let the other one go, but it was still something I kept in mind. They really cracked down on the hacked Pokemon when they switched to 3D.

well, I believe this friend got it legitimately and trained it up.
She did say that her game had been really glitchy, so maybe it was a bootleg copy that was sold in South Africa, where she lives.

I'm trying to repeatedly soft reset on my Alpha Sapphire to try to get one I can transfer, though

Good luck on the soft resets! I probably will never go Shiny-hunting Legendaries myself, but I had friends who did and it took them forever to find the ones they wanted. But they loved having them.
