I have plans on how to make Ryokos laser/light hawk sword.... but it will go with my battle Ryoko costume.

Does yours involve acrylic tubing with LED lights? Mine does!

For her yes for his I was going to have my friend make a wooden handle with the batteries and led in it as for blade. I was going to try and make it from trying to flatten out a tube as best I could.

Buying a plastic acrylic sheet, cutting & sanding it to form is you best bet. The light travels though it very nicely. Solo Robo did an amazing Psychic blade for a Psylock [link]
Thats actually what gave me the idea of how to make mine.
