Description True
True form is the most common and most easily recognizable of a Werewolf’s forms. In this form, the body is appears to be mostly lupine. However, the ’wolf is most comfortable moving bipedally in this form, and the body suits this. The average ’wolf is about six feet tall in this form.

In proportion to a normal wolf, the legs are thicker and the paws larger. The ’wolf also has a dewclaw on the inside of each hock.

The torso and arms are very humanoid, with the exception of being covered in fur, and the hands have pads and claws. The fingers are somewhat stunted, double-jointed at the first knuckle, and arranged like a normal wolf’s paw – the middle two fingers are longer and larger than the outside two.

While the head is almost entirely lupine, the muzzle is slightly blunted, and the lips and tongue are dexterous enough to allow for speech. Most ’wolves have a mane of thick, horse-like hair that forms a distinctive widow’s peak on the forehead and covers the head behind the ears, although about one in five do not have a mane.

The pelt is thick and somewhat coarse, and can range in color from jet black to pure white. Most ’wolves are brindled grey, brown, black, and white. Eyes may be a variety of colors, though the most common is yellowish-gold.

Wolf
Wolf form is virtually indistinguishable from a normal wolf. However, there is some difference in scent, as most animals can tell the difference.

Warrior
Usually, only one or two Werewolves in a generation have the ability to shift to Warrior form. These “Warriors” are specially adapted to hunting and killing Demons and goblins, which are the natural enemies of both Humans and Werewolves.

Warrior form closely resembles True form, though it is somewhat larger and more heavy-set. The fur is longer, forming an almost lion-like mane on the neck and chest and down the belly, as well as feathering on the backs of the arms and legs. The claws, canine teeth, ears, and tail are all larger. The muzzle is noticeably shorter and more powerful. In this form, the ’wolf is best suited to running (and walking, albeit a bit awkwardly) on all fours, although the forepaws remain dexterous and somewhat hand-like and the ’wolf walks flat on the palms.

The most distinguishing feature of the Warrior form is the eyes, which are elliptically shaped (like a Human’s) and glow bloodred without pupil or iris.

Old
Old form closely resembled the ancestors of the Werewolves, the Elves. To the untrained eye, the ’wolf seems almost Human. However, it retains a few lupine characteristics – the eyes (which remain the same color in any form but Warrior), the ears (which are large, pointed, and slightly mobile) and the fingers (which are arranged in the same manner as True form). Skin colors tend towards light brown with a faint reddish cast.

Okay, I have been needing something like this for a reference for a long time, and I have been working on it on and off for over a month. Anyway, this is my version of Werewoles as they appear in The Warrior King, the manscript of which is currently being beaten in submiss- . . .er, shape. Beaten into shape. Yes.

Sketching from photos ([link] ) really, really helps. I can see an improvement in my art just from doodling that one little page. I sketched out the first three forms while waiting for my final to get started last semester without any reference at all, and I am relatively happy with them. Old form was heavily referenced from Human Anatomy Made Amazingly Easy by Christopher Hart. They are pretty much proportional to each other in this pic.

Eheh, I need to practice human-ish types. Any critique would be lovely, because I need to work on reference sheets for individual characters and I don't want them to look so . . . lumpy.

i like the different forms... i haven't really ever heard of them like this, but there is one thing i read that didn't make sense... it is when you said demons and goblins are the natural enemies of both human and werewolf. in everything i have seen about werewolves they have said that there enemy is the vampire... i was just curious why you had changed it. i'm not trying to be mean or anything... (my comment has nothing to do with twilight btw.) i just thought that is was different... nice job...

this is probably based on their own ideas and not that of mainstream assumptions. I say vamps and weres ought to join forces

I am writing a book about Werewolves. It is the one I have been working on for the past year and a half - and you haven't read it yet because I haven't sent it to you.

Honestly, I worry about you sometimes.
