Description A big charcoal assignment for college. Its based off of a fable called the Fox and the Grapes. I wanted to make a surreal picture of this fable, instead of a boring illustration. Soo.... I decided to snag one of 's love dragons and apply it to this fable. Since they have the face plates on, its as if they can't eat anything even if its right in front of them. Frustrating, yah. I'm sure that Koishii will say other wise, but that is what is wrong with this particular one.

When she first came up with the idea for them, I disliked them. But, probably when she did more Love Dragons with fur and other interesting features, the concept started to build on me. I am not sure I will use the concept to do an Love Dragon version of any of my characters, but nothing is concrete. If someone else does it, that would be just fine to me. ^^

Adding to the surrealism, I borrowed Koishii's picture of Spilt Wine *and no, I had no intention of copying using grapes from her wine, that is purely coincidental*.

Other then that, I don't have much to say about this other then I was sick doing the last half of it, so it looks kinda bad.

I know that fable. This picture is very dark. The way the dragon seems to be able to get what it wants, but isn't able to seems really sad to me.

that really is stunning. It gives the tail such a dark feel to it. I love that tail and this is just awsome. I would love to see a colored version of this...and you idea of it not being able to eat is just perfect. I love this one.

Awww! Thanx! I was hoping you would comment on this eventually. I would have to look at the tail again to feel what you are talking about, since it looks so much better in reality... buuut... I don't have it... its being graded. >>'

This may be one of my entries for that big Fine Arts Contest I keep babbling about. Maybe I should give you a percentage if I win anything... ... or not... ....

The top makes it somehow. The swirl, with the tiny grapes...poor thing. Seems to add an almost dark spin on a fable. It's...raw? The empty space makes the branches stick out more...they seem alive and distorted rather than dead or dying, but maybe close to it.

I am very much liking that comment. I know not too many people will like this for some reason. It looks much better in reality, and I don't often say that.
