Description Common Name: Crested Scarer
Scientific Name: Tyrannocephalus imperator
Native Name: Nodonied
Height: 35 feet
Length: 68 feet
Order: Tyrannovenatora
Family: Ornatomandidae
Where: "Megofauno" Savannahs

Lifestyle: The Nodonied is a terrifying carnivore equivalent to the niche of a lion. It is raised in small litters of soft-skinned babies. They are soon isolated in the wild, where their soft carapaces and sweet smell draw them to a disandvantage, and few of them make it out alive. When they are at teenage years, they regroup with other members of their species and hunt in small groups. Then they grow older, and competition and rivalry leads many of the pack members to die. In the end, adult Nodonieds maintain small packs, the largest ones containing 5 members. After a while, a mere injury can lead a Nodonied to starvation and death, where it is consumed by scavengers and other Nodonieds. A rather bleak life for a great hunter.

Discovery: After the great expedition of the Milewalkers, advancements were made for the preparation of the new region's journey-the Megofauno Savannah. Satelite images showed scientists the precautions needed for exploration. It was going to more like a trip to African Grasslands. The Savanahs earned its name because witnesses described the wildlife there as being undescribably gigantic. Xenoecologists are unsure why these organisms are so large. But more technology was used for the expedition. Stronger weapons, and new vehicles called rotic units, which are essentially cars adapted to the gravity and resources of Neoterra. A large team was prepared and were sent out on large rotic units, combining both speed and storage for specimen containers. They were called Essentius, or ESTs. They were all sent out into the Savanahs. Within two days, two ESTs were scouting through a thick forest of photosynthesites, or Phises, when randomly a massive Nodonied sprung from the Phises, and slammed its giant forepaw on the hood of the EST, but the people inside the vehicle were able to scramble out to the other EST before the Nodonied dispatched the EST in its wicked mandibles. Just as the other EST began to drive away at full speed, the Nodonied sprung forward and bounded after the EST, matching its speed, and occasionally dipping its horned head down, trying to knock aside the EST. After 40 minutes of this amazingly long chase, the Nodonied ran out of energy and simple collapsed. It was astounding how long the predator kept its speed, not slowing down once after the EST. Later, other ESTs found a dead Nodonied and collected it for study, and several heavily built units were dispatched to observe their behavior.

Anatomy: Essentially, the Nodonied is built like a lion. It has extremely powerful and sharp mandibles, with the upper half ending in a series of spikelike crests. The eyes are rather normal for a Neoterran, so the vision is moderate. It has powerful inner tubing structures in its neck, making it heavily muscular, so it can hold its head better and deliver more powerful attacks. The shoulder muscles are so expansive they run up the animal, giving the Nodonied great leg power, explaining its uncanny speed. It has a thornlike spike on each front paw, and it uses these to slash into a victim before digging its sharp tarsaloids into the open wound. The atrophied secondary arm is used for an extra grip on prey when tackled, especially useful when in teenage years, where their main attack strategies include full-on tackling its victim. Its excretion tube is effective at delivering its toxic waste far away from the animal, and is usually held frontwards, between the legs, resembling genitalia. Its rear legs are thicker and heavier, but supply most of the push when running. Its back feet are small, to make it easier to ease them through the undergrowth it runs on. It has a long tail made of interconnecting spherobites, large extensions of the pseudochord. Pound for pound, the Nodonied is one of the most terrifying predators on Neoterra.
