Description
Called a "Frost Reaper" because zoos get more visitors if the animals have cool, evocative names, this tundra predator is a fast moving creature native to Canaan's north pole. Its primary prey item is the tundra hog, and the reaper often works in pairs. Armed with a wide array of proto-eyes and having lost all the head tentacles to the ravages of evolution, the frost reaper still retains three of the spikes present on those tentacles, transformed into a rather nasty trap with which to hold struggling prey. It's got an extra sphiracles for funneling more air into the central body, as most predators do.

That vicious-looking "dewclaw," the vestiges of an entire forearm, isn't for capturing prey or stabbing things - its "mouth" is more than enough of a trap for prey - it's for grooming, manipulating rocks during breeding season, and for use in increasing the surface area of the animal that's touching the ground when thick snows are a problem.
