Feeling unhappy about how her shows were going, Elena left for the Red City with nothing but her two old puppets. In the Red City what you are looking for might have taken a physical form somewhere inside its streets and empty houses, unfortunately if you search for it chances are you’ll never come back, at least not the same.
A few weeks later Elena did come back, a shiny new cross in the left hand. Her two puppets were dancing in front of her as she walked the streets of Umbralejo, this dance was so captivating that soon she had hundreds of people following her.
Later, the people of the city said that the puppets had a life of their own as there were no strings moving them, others said that there were indeed strings attached to them, but it was the extreme mastery of Elena that made them appear invisible, and others, just a few, said that the person walking the streets of Umbralejo with two puppets was not Elena, did they not see the mask covering its face? Not a single aperture in its clothes to see the flesh of a human being, whatever comes back from the Red City is no longer a living creature, did they forget?
In any case Elena gathered as many people as she could marching around the city, and then she left, with at least a thousand people following from behind, dancing, towards the same path she came.
