Wow, its eyes are so pretty. Is it supposed to be gray or an off-white?

They were in the middle of changing color from being blue (which is the color of their eyes when they are very young) to turning a golden yellowish-brown (which is their eye color when they are around 6 to 12 months old.) His eyes are changing pretty slowly

I noticed that a lot of bird species change their eye color when they're about to reach adulthood. I wonder why that is...

I think it happens because of changing hormones, but I couldn't say for sure what the purpose of the color change is.
