Okay, I've been working on him for like forever! And not just because it was actually quite the challenge to come up with his bio 'n stuff, but also because I've been procrastinating as hell :'D But anyway! Here's another of my revamped OCs - Shado~ He's also gonna be a part of Sparvely 's contest~ <3 Okay, here's all the info!

+ Very caring and kind. Helping people in need was one of the main reasons why he became a superhero in the first place. He cares very dearly for his friends and family.
+ Selfless. Everyone else comes before him.
+ Hard-working and persistent, doesn't give up easily. If he has a goal, he'll give his all to achieve it, no matter if it's a school project or going though hell and back to save someone.

- Unconfident at times. Due to his eyes, he's always had a little bit of lack of confidence when interacting with other people, often averting his gaze or simply wearing sunglasses. Sometimes he also uses lenses, but they sting his eyes and he feels very uncomfortable with them.
- Not very sociable or talkative, which is mostly the result of his lack of confidence. Because of this, he's often seen as broody or even gloomy.
- Has anger management issues. He's easy to piss off and not that easy to calm down again. At times he can even get very agressive and start rampaging, but even then, he's more likely to punch a wall than someone who's in his way, especially if that person is his friend.

Shadow mimicry:
He can transform his body completely into shadows. The transformed form can be either anatomically identical to his normal form, aside of being made of shadow, in which case it contains all to organs and is somewhat vulnerable to attacks. Alternately, he can transform into homogenous matter, without any part of his form being more important than the other.
Darkness projection:
The ability to project darkness in the form of energy blasts.
Shadow force field:
The ability to surround himself with a force field.
Intangibility:
The ability to move through objects and ignore most physical effects in their way.
Gravity manipulation:
Using darkness in a way that it gains the power of a Black Hole. This ability, however, requires a lot of power and concentration, thus he never actually uses it unless infuriated.
Enhanced speed:
In his shadow form.

Strengths and weaknesses

Strengths: Dark, poorly lit places. He is able to transform certain parts of his body into his shadow form during combat, thus making it hard for the opponent to actually injure him.
Weaknesses: He is very sensitive to bright flashes of light. The durability of the shadow force field depends on his location. If he's in the darkness, the force field will be stronger and last longer, but if he's surrounded by bright light, the force field will be weaker. It still can protect him, though.

History

Born in a small village in Japan, Jo's childhood was tough, to say the least. A place where everyone knows one another is a terrible one to be born in if you're different than the rest. Which was exactly his case. Right from the moment of his birth, his parents, both farmers, were terrified by the eyes of their child. They were almost white and had no pupils. That was a defect that couldn't be hidden at all. And not just his parents, but also the rest of the village were afraid of the Devil Child, as they called him, saying that he was the spawn of the devil itself, especially because of the black aura that surrounded him for most of the time. For years, Jo struggled with acceptance and understanding until he just stopped trying and became numb to whatever anyone was saying behind his back. His confidence had been shattered, however, and creating any kind of relationships with people was really hard for him.

After years and years of looking for some answers as to why he was the way he was, at the age of 13 Jo seemingly finally found an answer to his prayers. There was some sort of old priest in the USA, who'd encountered things similar to that in his life before and said he could help him. So leaving only a note to his parents, he left Japan and left to the US in hopes to fix himself. However, briefly before reaching the temple, the priest died of old age and left behind only a small note for the young boy that said: 'Just because fate has chosen for darkness to be your companion, doesn't mean you have to let it guide you'. Surely, Jo was very angry at himself that he didn't make it there sooner and angry at the priest for not explaining absolutely anything. But even so, now that he was in the US and away from that damn village, he decided to stay here and find a path in life.

Not too late after his arrival he met a young man named Samuel, who had noticed him wandering around in search for food and a place to stay. Unable to abandon a child on the streets, Samuel took Jo in and the two of them bonded really quickly. After taking care of Jo's papers and letting him change his name to a more American one, Sam became his legal guardian. At that time, Jo got really interested in martial arts and was taken to a very good dojo where he was trained the art of karate, aikido, kendo and others. When he was 15, he encountered the Teen Titans who helped him find some criminals who tried to burn down the dojo. Hesitant at first, he decided to become a Teen Titan as well, wanting to do something good with his life, and took up the name of Shado.

One year later after joining the Titans, they met Maggie, a new wanna-be hero who had no training at all. At first he'd paid no attention to the reckless girl, but seeing her determination and potential to become a good fighter, he approached her and offered his help to train her. Surely, Maggie agreed on the spot and began her training. Which wasn't easy at all, since Jo was quite strict with her. But in the end, it was all worth it and he was happy with how much she'd grown in just one year when she took up the name Elastique. The two of them had grown quite close, too, which really warmed his heart. However, new struggles came when he finished high school. Wanting to go to college and not sure if he could keep it up with his duties as a Teen Titan, he left the team, which really broke Maggie's heart. She'd been the closest with him, after all. But they do meet up every now and then for a patrol though, so she tries to tell herself that it's not all that bad. And that's exactly what Jo's trying to tell himself too.

His backstory was the most challenging one, really. And I'm still not sure if I'm completely satisfied with it. But it came out the way I intended, more or less.
