I imagine this as a kind of an inner fight with the demon of Vaati. I can't imagine that he ever wanted to become this one-eyed mega crobat. In the Minish Cap manga he was even crying for help while transforming into a demon. So I imagine that the one-eyed thing was a different entity that took over Vaati's being. And I imagine that Vaati's consciousness was somewhere inside the demon, too. Something like with Ling and Greed in Fullmetal Alchemist.....ΒWell, that was just my attempt at explaining my headcanons, do it doesn't have to be understandable or anything, haha... Β

In the fanfiction I'm writing, I have a scene similar to this. It's not going to be along for years though, due to other projects.
Vaati is a protagonist, alongside Link, Zelda, Saria, and Volvagia (sans-Twinrova's curse).
It's not the real Vaati though. In mine, the Vaati the reader sees is a fragment of the real Vaati's soul, taken by Ezlo as a way of trying to ease his guilt. Unfortunately, he's doing everything the same as he did before, being too strict, not showing enough kindness, etc. After Vaati starts having nightmares about a cyclopic bat demon, Zelda who becomes close friends with Vaati, condemns Ezlo of being responsible for the original Vaati's spiral into madness, by being a cold, distant surrogate parent, only teaching his student to resent him, and worse, that he's just doing the same thing again. I can send you the scene, if you want.

Vaati is the first Zelda Villain I've met and he is so awesome (Four Swords in 3D). I want him back and I really liked this drawn. Thanks! In a book where I am writing (a Crossover), Vaati is a Remeed and he have fault for what he have done in the past and want real Redemption (from the Heroes) and help the Protagonist and his friends (Bass, from Mega Man, is the Protagonist, wanting for Redemption too). What do you think? Anyway, awesome!

This is a head-cannon I've had for a long while as well. You did a wonderful job of illustrating it, especially with the way Vaati's cape and hair are swirling around him. That really gives the impression of a swirling wind, which conveys the idea of this overwhelming entity taking over him really well.

Β yeah its really nice. I definitely agree with the theme, I mean look at how much he changed when he became Gufu, he lost all his memories, he only cared about a bride, and his voice was totally diffrent in 4 swords.
