..Well, the Original Null was also Female, so this isn't completely true to form.
He was a Demonic Seraphim, created by Lucifer himself. [Which to those of you not familiar with the Hierarchy of Angels, Seraphim are the highest.]
The list goes,
Angels, Arch Angels, Principalities, Powers, Virtues, Dominions, Thrones, Cherubim, Seraphim. In rank of lowest to Highest.
I'm too tired to explain all of Null's history, perhaps another time? -yawn- Anyway, enjoy.

In Christian mythology, Angels can kind of change gender, so maybe it's not too far off.

Lucifer created her as his queen but Null's a bad person and decided '...lolscrewthis.' Transformed to His/her preferred gender and went up to the surface. Once at the surface he more or less wreaked havoc and tried to end the world. Lucifer was all 'WTFNO.' because ending the world would put a MAJOR stopper on his fun. SO, he sent his best demons and whatnot up to the surface after Null.
They caught him, and locked him up down in hell for a few millenia. D: All by himself. Poor little Tranny...
SO IS IT REALLY A MARY/GARY-SUE/STU IF THEY HATE EACHOTHER AND NEVER ACTUALLY END UP TOGETHER...?

Um.... I think that really depends on your definition of Mary Sue. In my world, any character created for the purpose of loving another character is a Mary Sue (Which also would include Misa, I guess)even if they dn't end up ACTUALLY loving each other.
....thus, it is not nessisarily a bad thing.
But that sounds like a FUCKING AWESOME STORY. I would totally buy it.
