Personality:
Luce isn't one to think about problems nor consequences that occur as a result of her actions. Her actions reflect upon being a child who lived a fast pace childhood on her blades and bike. Since repetition and tedious tasks bore her, she often goes from one activity to the next to avoid suffering from boredom or disappointment. "Life is huge", she'll often comment, "...And I want to see as much of it and do as much as I can". Though she appreciates life for its joys and opportunities, she moves too quickly to appreciate the small things.
She also considers herself to be brave even though the proper term would be "reckless" in regards to her decisions both in battle and outside of it. It's not unusual to see her come home one day with bruises across her arms and legs. However, she's scared of a few things, mainly bug pokemon, disappointment, and... water. Riding ships is a nightmare, and she'll never go out to swim.
But even with her positive disposition, Luce tends to have habits of not taking hints and not regarding other people's feelings. She's extremely persistent, rarely changes her mind once it's mind, and she often drags unsuspecting victims into her next shenanigan...
History:
Daughter of a rowdy mechanic and a silent engineer, Luce grew up as the oldest child of two in Slateport. Her father, a mechanic with a great interest in bikes, as well as her mother, an engineer, often worked for long hours within their home. Luce and her brother, Jay, spent most of their time by the sea or watching the riders on Route 110- the Seaside Cycling Road by their home city, under watch by the daughter of one of their parent's friends (named Katelyn).
Though she remembers her childhood as a rather happy one, Katelyn was extremely paranoid and made sure that Luce and Jay never did anything too reckless. They weren't allowed to do anything but wade in the water, and they weren't allowed to step foot on the Seaside Cycling Road. This led to many days of sitting on the sand and watching bike riders. It wasn't until Luce was 6 that she, against Katelyn's wishes (who had turned away for a few seconds to talk to a friend that approached her), ran out towards the water and jumped in. The water was so nice! Before then, her time in the water had been limited by the rare day when her parents weren't tired and were willing to carry her on their backs out to the ocean. Never had she once been in the water like this. Being the stupid brat that was was though, she could hardly swim, leading her to just about drown. Though Jay told Katelyn of what Luce did before anything bad could happen, the event was traumatizing for the girl who had lived in the port city for all her life.
She kept her fear of swimming a secret and opted for spending more time away from the ocean instead. For a week after the incident, she stayed at home and observed her mom and dad's work instead. Her dad ended up modifying a tricycle for Luce that same week. With the permission of Luce's parents, Katelyn reluctantly allowed Luce to ride on the road.
By the time she was 8, Luce had gotten rid of her tricycle wheels. At 12, she got a bigger bike and started to learn how to roller skate. After Katelyn moved cities and Luce was old enough to look after herself, each day of hers was spent on the Seaside Cycling Road on bike or around the city limits on her roller blades. Jay, on the other hand, retreated to the ocean to hang out in. Though they didn't spend as much time with each other anymore, they were still a family.
She was 14 years old when she took a serious interest in her dad's work. He considered himself to be mainly a bike mechanic though he tinkered with other forms of machinery at different parts. Both her parents worked hand in hand with one another. After watching her father tinker with her bike even further and allowing her to ride even faster, Luce was sold. She began to study under her father, but since Luce is a lame brat, the small things bored her. She hated studying, and it took her a long time to learn the small things.
It was when she was 17 that her father recommended her go to Borealis to live with one of his close friends, a mechanic who would be a better instructor than her father ever would be. Luce was initially against the idea- she would have to ride on a freaking boat omf no- but Jay actually ended up being the one who persuaded her. It was a whole new region for Luce to be able to destroy with her reckless antics, and she'd become a better mechanic.
So she went.
Though the boat ride was awful, Luce was surprised to hear that her father's friend, Jakob, who lived in Situla Town, was sending her off on her own pokemon adventure around the region. She would obtain a starter from the region's native professor and travel with a pokemon companion. Maybe this way, Jakob thought, she would learn to be patient and appreciate the small things.

Owain is quick to open up and show his own affection, and he's content when given the affection of other pokemon and trainers. In battle, he follows Luce's commands exactly. Though loyal, both Owain and Luce lack the battle experience to be considered threats unless Luce runs you over or smth.

So effortlessly could the Taillow evade and strike! Though Luce and Owain couldn't catch the Taillow themselves in battle, Paradox decided to stick around for the thrill of battle that he hadn't experienced in so long. And with that, Luce was able to catch him before embarking further on her journey.
