Description EDITED TO SCRAPS: I have made a new version of this in my gallery [link]

Speedpainting using blue and red colours only. Then exploring the different values with them together. About one or two hours of painting with the wacom intuos3.

This was a school practice I enjoyed. It's a bit inspired by the ideas I had for my older painting "the Shepherd" [link]
However, I think this was more intense.

Hope you enjoy. I might pick it up again and work it out if I get time.

I love this, it really reminds me of the series of portraits by Ken Currie on decay

This reminds me of the aneroxic stock fotos i've seen. I also saw someone that had the skinniest arms in my class the other day. She looked sick. That's what this piece reminds me.

the entire mood is so daunting and engrossing. The depth of the image is intisified with the use of just 2 colour. fantastic piece

Two of my favorite colors! The textures and composition are terrific. What program did you use to color?

This is amazing. You said it was kind of inspired or spun off of another piece, but where did this idea come from? I mean, you get red and blue... now what? It was for school, were there requirements as to what you had to choose?

egilpaulsen In reply to dpst-inquisitions [2007-03-28 13:18:57 +0000 UTC]

i had to choose two colours. red & blue made me think of this. its cold and vital at the same time.

My works get criticized for being limited in color but this has a lot of depth for only red and blue paint...I'm jealous. Very nice work.

I actually like it as it is. Conveys that desperate, ghostlike feeling of famine. Amazing what we're capable of when we just stop thinking and just do. Nice job.

what do you mean?
I've had this image in mind even before I made the Shepherd painting, way back to january 2005 [link]
Never got to draw it until now though. Almost every detail was planned, so I wasn't really improvising
thanks btw

When I haven't eaten in a while, I feel weak and hollow, as if I'm fading away. The image looks almost transparent, as if the figure has become empty with hunger.
