if legal i will go out on a limb and say the gov'ment will add on a big stinkin tax and we can expect to pay double or triple what we pay now
not to mention the onslaught of commercialization we will see with the development of "big marijuana" companies that will probably be the aim of many a lawsuit
i cant think of a single political/social issue that was improved by gov'ment regulation, and with weed it will be no different considering politicians don't exactly speak from experience and in everyones' best interest
only time will tell i guess, whatever

People use it for the wrong reasons and abuse it as a medication. It has the same affects as smoking, Most people who do it are just idiots trying to get rid of the 'pain' with some silly little drug because they can't deal with reality.

no offense but that's entirely ridiculous. People use drugs for a variety of reasons, for pain relief, for pleasure,out of simple curiosity and a desire to understand themselves better. Some people using drugs are idiots, but no more than in the rest of the non drug using population. It's really a very unfair generalization to say that they simply "can't deal" with reality, plenty can, but some do have trouble coping with things in their lives, just like anyone else.
The reason I promote the legalization of drugs has nothing to do with use though, I want to legalize weed, and all other drugs because if they were legalized and regulated by the government the price for them would go down and it would no longer be profitable for a black market to exist, so the violence and whatnot that are caused by that black market would largely cease to exist. Also, if you legalize drugs the money made selling them to people that will use the drugs whether or not they're legal can then be spent on programs to educate the public about drugs, to reduce harm to people when they use them, and to help them overcome their drug habits. All of that would cost money, but it would still be cheaper than the billions that the US is spending on our "war on drugs" every year. If you're still not convinced do some research on Portugal, they recently legalized drugs and they have seen great improvements.

You missed key words. I have never once said everyone did it for wrong purposes. There's no reason to call my opinion ridiculous when it is true fact that a majority of 'people' NOT EVERYONE uses drugs for such things.
Though, nearly every person I know that is a drug abuser does drugs for exactly what I stated above. Keyword. Nearly. keep that in mind. I went back and read your argument, and I still completely disagree, for my own reason. When stating my opinion, I have no heed in changing your mind or anyone elses, because changing one persons mind on any subject is not going to stop a god damn thing. :/
