Messy messy stuff but sometimes it's fun! Especially when doing it in the computer lets me use some of my rough sketch lines into final lines with no effort at all.

Oh, that looks very nice. It's scribblish, but the background makes it look finished. I really like the style, how did you do that?

Mostly it's the pencil tool. The background is a few shapes with a gradient that all got blurred, and the texture's a scan of some funky paper being used as an opacity mask for a flat rectangle of one of the colors in the drawing (the red, I think) that's then set to, um, either difference or soft light transparency at a low opacity.
All in Illustrator.
