This is a commission from the amazing Beth Turnsek. I asked her to draw a Puss in Boots based on the original fairy tale and not the Dreamworks version.

There are two forms here. The left side shows Puss without his boots and just being a normal looking (albeit talking) cat. The right side shows Puss with boots (and a bag, the other thing he asked his master to give him). I like to think that his anatomy gets slightly adjusted (hand-like paws, bipedal hips, plantigrade feet) when he wears the boots as shown here. Still, that doesn't change the fact that he is a cunning cat.

I mentioned Dreamworks earlier. While I thought the "Puss in Boots" movie was alright, there were elements in it that bugged me. One was that Puss' origin story was NOTHING like the original fairy tale. Say what will about Disney but at least when they adapt fairy tales, they keep the most important elements. With this film, they just kept the character and the new origin they give him with wasn't all that interesting.

I think Dreamworks had a missed opportunity. They could have easily adapted the fairy tale into a Spanish or Mexican environment. In fact, it could have been a satire (like Shrek, the film it was spinning off from) where Puss' master gets all the glory while Puss is angry that he is doing all the hard work but is never thanked for it. All I am saying is that when I see Puss in Boots in a world of fairy tale creatures, I am under the assumption that his backstory is similar to the source material the filmmakers got him from.

OK, rant over. Anyways, I hope all of you will like this.

I agreed with your opinion. There one thing I didn't like about dreamworks's puss in boots is how his origin and backstory is NOTHING like the original fairy tale. I heard fairytale fans complain about how the little mermaid and frozen isn't staying true to their respective fairytales yet NO ONE pay attention to this?!
If Disney made a puss in boots adaptation, I hope and wish it stay true to Charles Perrault version and make puss in boots more original than the dreamworks's version.
