we went to the zoo, in palermo, buenos aires.its so sad seing this amazing creature brought to this.

I hear you man! My dream is that zoos will not exist in the next 10-20 years. No way to keep animals, in my opinion!

In many instances I agree, but in the case of animals where their survival in the wild seems to be a losing battle, such as the many rhino species (there's been what... 3 declared extinct in the wild in the last few years) and orangutans. Orangutans are screwed. The Indonesian government exploits the loopholes in their own laws to shrink their own national parks in order to give more land to palm oil plantations. Zoos are putting increasing effort into making exhibits better for animals, but remodelling a single exhibit costs many millions of dollars. It's a process. But zoos, as corporations exploit nature without recourse, may well be the ONLY places some of these animals exist soon, and where attempts to breed them to reintroduce them to the wild will come from.
